"Rock Band Encore: Rockin' The 80s Again" proposed tracklisting

edited July 2009 in Your Ultimate Setlist
So, uh, I actually dug Harmonix's lineup for "Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80s". I thought it had a pretty good cross section of classic tracks from that decade. However, there was definitely a lot more that could have been done with that. So, why not a semi-sequel now that we have Rock Band? How about a full expansion "track pack" disc featuring an expanded setlist of more songs that can be transferred to the other Rock Band games, along with some bonuses like additional clothes and instruments?

Here's my proposed tracklisting for the game. I did it in the RB2-style tiers, with 9 tracks under each level. I tried to keep the duplicates from other games to an absolute minimum, but there's some that you just can't leave off. I also tried to balance it pretty evenly between the pop and the rock, the new wave and the metal, and the male and female vocals. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would like to see two different songs from these bands that you put in:

Def Leppard - Rock of Ages

Motley Crue - Home Sweet Home

    1. Quiet Riot - Come On Feel The Noize Er, no. Use Run for Cover, or even Metal Health. It's kind of insulting to Kevin's memory to use a song that the entire band hated.
    7. Europe - The Final Countdown Awful choice. Rock the Night or Cherokee would actually be, uh, fun.
    9. Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up Kind of light on the instruments, ain't it? Use Whenever You Need Somebody.
    3. Judas Priest - Breaking The Law Would be mega-boring for the guitarist, and pretty much everybody. Living After Midnight's pretty popular, and would be much more fun for everyone.
    9. Guns 'N' Roses - Paradise City ... er, no? Use anything else from their '80s catalogue. It would be better for everyone involved. Even Patience or Use to Love Her.
    The rest is fine.

    4. The Clash - Rock The Casbah Not a whole lotta guitar.

    4. Night Ranger - Don't Tell Me You Love Me
    5. Pat Benatar - You Better Run

    7. Wire Train - Chamber Of Hellos
    8. Rush - Subdivisions Freewill or New World Man would be better.
    9. Guns 'N' Roses - Paradise City Mr. Brownstone, Think About You, You're Crazy, hell, even My Michelle would be better than this!

    Impossible:
    1. King Crimson - Frame By Frame
    2. Krokus - Midnight Maniac I think Long Stick Goes Boom would be better.
    3. Whitesnake - Still Of The Night
    4. Testament - Trial By Fire
    5. Iron Maiden - Aces High
    6. Megadeth - Mechanix
    7. Necrophagia - Mental Decay

And where the hell is Ratt?

... if you'd have noticed, I didn't complain about Youth Gone Wild, because, although it's not as rockin' or heavy as anything besides 18 and Life or I Remember You on the album, it's still badass.

    Prince - Let's Go Crazy
Glenn Frey - The Heat Is On
Cutting Crew - I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight

Great List and I would buy it in a second. Thee additions though for a true 80s disc.... U2, Tom Petty, and Prince (need a little pop) should have songs in there. Those bands were mega big, but great list and is closer to what I was expecting from rock the 80s!

I like the list. I agree with others saying that a U2 and a police song would be a good addition. Even though the album released in 1979, I would also concider adding The Monks, with the song either being "Johnny B Rotten" or "Nice Legs, Shame About Her Face".

Going off of an 80's thread I made as well, I would love to add these songs to the list.

These are all songs that HMX has had in previous games which means they had a working relationship with the band/band management at one point. I don't see why they couldn't do so again.

.38 Special - "Hold on Loosely"
Accept - "Balls to the Wall"
Anthrax - "Caught in a Mosh"
    Anthrax - "Madhouse"
Asia - "Heat of the Moment"
Billy Squier - "Lonely Is the Night"
Bow Wow Wow - "I Want Candy" (I know it never officially made it in the game, but it was in an early build before being pulled.)
    Danzig - "Mother"
    Eddie Money - "Shakin'"
    Faster Pussycat - "Bathroom Wall"
Flock of Seagulls - "I Ran (So Far Away)"
Guns N' Roses - "Sweet Child O' Mine"
    Iron Maiden - "The Trooper"
    Iron Maiden - "Wrathchild"
Motley Crue - "Shout At The Devil"
Oingo Boingo - "Only a Lad"
Ozzy Osbourne - "Bark At The Moon"
Poison - "Nothin' But a Good Time"
The Pretenders - "Tattoed Love Boys"
    Quiet Riot - "Metal Health"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Higher Ground"
The Romantics - "What I Like About You"
Ronnie James Dio - "Holy Diver"
    Scandal - "The Warrior"
Scorpions - "No One Like You"
Skid Row - "18 and Life"
Stray Cats - "Rock This Town"
    Suicidal Tendencies - "Institutionalized"
Twisted Sister - "I Wanna Rock"
    The Vapors - "Turning Japanese"
White Lion - "Radar Love" (would rather have Golden Earring's version though)
    Winger - "Seventeen"
    X - "Los Angeles"
ZZ Top - "Sharp Dressed Man"
