Supertramp

Yes? No?

I didn't see it in the thread of threads.

I've only recently been getting into them... though I'm not sure if that many songs from them would actually work in rock band...

They could definitely put together a great track pack for Supertramp. Most people here pick Breakfast in America, I wouldn't mind some off of Crime of the Century as well.

    Hell yes to Supertramp!!

Crime of the Century or Breakfast in America would be awesome!

Kind of a guilty pleasure. My parents use to play both of these albums when I was a kid. I remember the album covers like it was yesterday.

Why not? Seriously, I'm interested to know why you think they shouldn't be in Rock Band, because I think they would be great and incredibly fun, and I enjoy the music. My curiosity has been piqued.

What?.... no guitar? I point you to the ending solo of Goodbye Stranger (and there's guitar throughout the song too)

Pretty sure I hear bass in the song too..

I know there's songs by them with guitar and bass but not enough for any more than a 3 pack which sucks. Don't try to show me songs you think are new to me by Supertramp... my dad has every CD and plays them ALL THE TIME :p

Okay, I've compiled here from the Supertramp records/tracks I own all the songs that have bass and guitar. So many that you can make about 3 or more sets, actually!

    - Waiting So Long
    - Ain't Nobody But Me
    - Hide in Your Shell
    - Crazy
    - Lover Boy
    - Asylum
    - Two of Us
    - Sister Moonshine
    - Lady
    - Lord is it Mine
    - Give a Little Bit
    - Take the Long Way Home
    - It's Raining Again
    - Dreamer
    - Gone Hollywood
    - Oh Darlin'
    - Casual Conversations
    - Just a Nervous Wreck
    - Child of Vision
    - Breakfast in America
    - The Logical Song
    - Goodbye Stranger
    - Don't Leave Me Now
    - I'm Begging You
    - Free as a Bird
    - Better Days
    - Even in the Quietest Moments
    - Rudy
    - Another Man's Woman
    - Nothing to Show
    - Maybe I'm Beggar
    - It's A Long Road
    - Words Unspoken
    - Shadow Song
    - Surely
    - Aubade and I are Not Like Other Birds of Prey
    - Your Papa Don't Mind
    - Traveled
    - Rosie Had Everything Planned
    - Remember
    - Potter
    - Coming Home to See You
    - Times Have Changed
    - Friend in Need
    - Aries
    - Try Again
    - School
    - Bloody Well Right
    - Crime of the Century
    - Brother Where You Bound
    - Slow Motion

The ones that wouldn't work at all or not well are:

    - Downstream
    - Just a Normal Day
    - Home Again
    - Forever
    - You Started Laughing
    - From Now On
    - Soapbox Opera
    - Fool's Overture
    - Cannonball

(And for these, the keyboard could be played with the guitar. I mean, Beastie Boys use the guitar as a record scratcher, Freezepop uses it as a techno instrument, etc.)

Yes of course, we need more progressive rock from another band besides rush (no offense, we just need more variety)

Progressive rock is an understated genre that was/is incredibly influential

... and for those who don't know supertramp, they'll learn just like we did about rush

"Give A Little Bit" is the obvious choice if they go for a single. But any Supertramp is welcome.

    Myth.

Yes, Supertramp emphasizes keyboards (and clarinets), but there's enough to keep drummers and geetarists occupied. "Goodbye Stranger," for example:

Pretty boring for guitar and bass for awhile, but the 5:00 mark more than makes up for it. ^^^
