1954 - Joe Turner records the original version of Shake, Rattle and Roll which would become the first UK Top 5 hit for Bill Haley and The Comets.

1958 - The **** Clark Show debuts on ABC TV in the US. Guests for its first show include Connie Francis, Chuck Willis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pat Boone and Johnnie Ray.

1964 - Meet The Beatles tops the US chart for 11 weeks.

1968 - The Lennon's and Harrison's fly to India to study meditation with the Maharishi in Rishikesh. McCartney and Jane Asher along with the Starr's would join them 4 days later. Starr grows bored very quickly and would return to London March 1.

1968 - Shooting begins on The Monkees feature film Head.

1969 - The Doors have another million selling single with Touch Me as it hits #3 in the US.

1974 - The Bottom Line club in New York opens. Among the celebs for its gala opening are James Taylor and his wife Carly Simon, Stevie Wonder and Mick Jagger.

1979 - A Taste Of Honey beats out The Cars and Elvis Costello to win Best New Artist at The Grammy Awards.

1981 - The feature film Dance Craze has its premiere. The film features artists who had risen to prominence via the 2-Tone movement, which sprang from Coventry England and largely comprised inter-racial groups playing West Indian Ska music. Artists that appeared in the film were The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners, and The Bodysnatchers. The soundtrack album would wind up in the Top 5 on the album chart.

1988 - AC/DC's Blow Up Your Video hits #2 in the UK and #12 in the US

1988 - Def Leppard is forced to cancel a show in El Paso, TX after threats of violence, following a Sept 7 1983 gig where singer Joe Elliot referred to El Paso as "the place with all those greasy Mexicans."

1989 - Poison has its UK breakthrough as Every Rose Has Its Thorn hits #13.

1992 - 3 days after leaving Motley Crue, Vince Neil goes to Hawaii with young Californian groupie and porn star Savannah, where they stay up for four days straight on pills and cocaine before Savannah has convulsions after overdosing. Vince calls an ambulance and follows her to the hospital. They continue partying when she returns from hospital the following day.

1993 - Duran Duran perform their comeback single Ordinary World on The Tonight Show.

1998 - The Rolling Stones perform the final show of their Bridges to Babylon North American tour at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel. Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson-Lee sit in the front row. As they sit with Brad Pitt, Chris O’Donnell, Leonardo DeCaprio and David Spade, Rolling Stones band members Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards drink champagne from Tommy and Pam’s glasses while they rock on stage. After the concert, Pam hits Tommy when she finds him talking to a stripper. Tommy responds by pushing Pam against a wall before forcing her into their hotel room and out of public view. Pam leaves Las Vegas in their car and heads home.

2002 - Actress Ursula Karven and television producer James Veres file a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Tommy Lee of failing to provide proper supervision of their four-year-old Daniel Veres, who drowned in Tommy’s swimming pool during his son’s birthday party ten months ago. The lawsuit charges Tommy with general negligence, negligent supervision, wrongful death and premises liability.

2006 - The gravesite of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia is classified with a heritage listing.
