pmpboarder's DLC wishlist

pmpboarderpmpboarder Road Warrior
edited July 2009 in Your Ultimate Setlist
I want to do one of these. I listen to a lot of music. A lot of the music I listen to would be perfect for Rock Band. But I have a horrible memory and forget to jot those songs down. This is hopefully a solution to that problem.

I've expressed my support for many of these bands in different posts ("official" band threads, genre threads, decade/era threads, etc.), but I figured I'd combine and keep track of all the songs I want in my own little corner of the internet.

I will try to provide links to YouTube, last.fm, MySpace, or any other sites that let you easily listen to the songs.

Feel free to comment on how much better your taste in music is than mine. This isn't an attempt to impress anyone, just a personal record of which songs I want to play in Rock Band. If I were to have made this list a year ago, I bet there are more than 100 I would have picked that have already made their way to the DLC realm. But it's not a year ago. It's today. (For now...) That's what I get for procrastinating.

Remember: this list is not- and never will be- complete. As of now it is very much a work in progress. I will list the bands that I want, and then fill in songs later. Songs that are now available are listed in green. Notice a broken link? Let me know and I'll fix it immediately. Thanks!

If I may, some suggestions from that list of bands. The ones I suggest I happen to own all of their respective albums.

Sublime: Date Rape, Santeria (you just gotta have it), Greatest-Hits, Don't Push, All You Need, Wrong Way

Bad Religion: Generator, Stranger Than Fiction, Epiphany, The Defense, Let Them Eat War, I Want to Conquer the World, Forbidden Beat, Prodigal Son

Audioslave: Revelations, Heaven's Dead, Doesn't Remind Me, Cochise, Dandelion

You should e-mail Tommy Manzi again and see if he has any updates. I'll do it if you think it's worth it!

Good call on The Urge. That's some really rockin' ska music that would fit pretty damn good in RB. Random fact: When I lived in Omaha I probably saw them about 20 different times. SOOOO good live!!

Not to mention The Refreshments! First time I've ever seen someone mention them on these forums.

I know this is your list....and to suggest a band might be a faux pas, but you might want to consider CLUTCH.....I listen to, and enjoy, most of the bands you've got listed. Think you might dig them.

and I'm DYING for some 311!!

I wasn't ignoring you. Tommy and I have been in contact. But not about Rock Band. I figure it's just a waiting game now. I don't think he would be able to tell us anything anyway. It'll be more of a surprise when CAKE or Harmonix announce it officially, so we don't have to speculate. I figure it's going to happen. We just gotta wait. ;)

Relating to this topic, I will now go through and add songs and more artists.

I've never seen The Urge. I would love to. They aren't from Omaha, are they? Apparently they like this city, though.

I have made an "official" thread for The Refreshments. I've seen them mentioned quite a few times. Great band. Another that I never got the chance to see live. But, I may actually get to see Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers this month!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be sure to give Clutch a listen.

Outside of packing your list full of generic post-grunge crap (Nickelback, Seether, etc) or My Chemical Ripoff bands there's not a lot you can do to change my opinion...

...Unless of course for some reason you remove The Arcade Fire and Neutral Milk Hotel.

I will only ever add to The Arcade Fire and Neutral Milk Hotel. Until there is nothing left to add.

I have added quite a few songs and a couple new artists. Make sure you check back regularly, as I'll be keeping this thing updated whenever I think of songs to add.

But it says wishlist. Right there in the title. I can see it. I realize this is the "Ultimate Setlist" forum, but does that mean all the threads requesting bands automatically mean they want Rock Band: [this band], a la The Beatles?

I didn't see that wishlist part of the post! I guess "setlist" threads are just more popular; ie: I see them the most so yeah. My bad!

Not sure, it's a pretty long wishlist. I'm looking at some bands I absolutely loathe (blink182, rage against the machine) and some I absolutely adore (bad religion, pixies) and some I'm inbetween on or haven't exactly heard too much of before.

Also, I've always been "brutally honest" as Timmy called it on these forums. :p

Ha, that wasn't too brutal. Blink-182 and Rage Against the Machine were both a big part of my childhood (I'm 22 now). They'll always have that special place in my heart. I'm glad to hear you love Bad Religion and Pixies, though. :)

But then I'm not here to please anyone but myself. I have an extremely eclectic taste in music, so I'm sure I will get a lot of responses similar to yours.
