    * Notes:
    - The fact that a song is a cover is ignored, that still counts as the band in the game
    - Counting ACDC track pack as DLC, since that is how RB2 sees it
    - I used the data off of the RB site, some of which was wrong and I had to correct. Hopefully everything is right.
    - For the State origin, I used wikipedia and tried to base it off of where they were living when they broke into the music scene. I do not guarantee its complete accuracy, but it should be fairly close.
    - In some cases, RB treats the following bands as separate that I do not:
-- Tom Petty / Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers
-- Joan Jett / Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
-- Jonathan Coulton / GLaDOS and Jonathan Coulton
-- MC Frontalot / MC Frontalot feat. Brad Sucks
    -- Styx/REO Speedwagon collaboration

Good idea for a thread! I've kept track of this info myself (see Artist grouping of Songs page at RockBandStats.com).

Here are the # of songs for each band (includes RB1, RB2 and DLC):

    .
    .

EDIT: You've added this list as well at the top. I won't be updating this post then. I also deleted the info to allow for better scrolling.

    Interesting stats.

The # of Songs Per Band explodes one of the forum myths: Rush does NOT have the most content, not by a long shot. Next time you ask for more Rush and somebody says "OMG! NO MORE RUSH!!!!," point out to them that Rush is tied for the *6th* spot overall, faaaaar behind RHCP, Foo, PJ, AC/DC, The Who, No Doubt, The Dead, Maiden and Priest, The Pixies, The Who, The Crue, and Faux GNR.

I tend to hear more people say "no moar Foo Fighters", which is funny since there are bands with more songs than them.

    Good job, OP!

No...it means weve had more than enough in the game for all those bands. Asking for more Rush/Maiden/Pearl Jam etc is greed and best served with their own game if they are to have so many songs on the platform - after all if they want more maybe RBN will serve them well but lets leave the thousands of other established bands who have been little featured if at all on the platform get the HMX charting treatement.

To be "ONLY 6th" is hardly a lack of coverage for Rush...this very thread shows there are hundreds of other bands with far less than them on the game, as such NO MORE RUSH

Holy crap...yes that is indeed very impressive. I wonder how long they intend to keep this remarkable run going...i guess the only breaks theyve had with even these are the album release weeks. Good work HMX...now for more Brits to keep the theme you have for this month with awesome British bands getting a much welcome look in

The Acro-Brats is a band that is on RB1 but has no DLC. Why does everyone forget about them? (I love them so)

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed it's RB1 AND RB2, my bad. On another note, Pearl Jam will soon be no. 1 for most songs because the "Backspacer" album will eventually come out.

Awsome thread. It reminded me of why we still haven't gotten any Bon Jovi and Beastie Boys DLC yet. Hopefully HMX is going to hurry up and get some of their songs out there!
