Rock Band Network charting groups

edited September 2012 in The Rock Band Network
Please find a list below of the "companies" offering help with charting songs for the Rock Band Network (RBN). This is simply a list of those who have expressed a desire to produce the charts and have set up a web site to entice prospective bands. Because these sites have no connection with Harmonix or MTV games, this list is NOT promoting any particular group of charters nor does this list guarantee the quality of these sites’s craftsmanship. This is simply an informational list to help bands find charting groups to help in their endeavors. The order in which they are seen is in no way indicative of a ranking as to which group is preferred or better qualified.

Please NOTE: This list has been split into two pages, Post #1 and Post #2. If you represent a band looking for someone to chart your songs please be sure to look over both pages.

Please NOTE: Harmonix's policy concerning authoring groups is as follows:

Our official policy regarding authoring companies, which has just been drafted and may be altered in the future, is as follows:

Companies may indicate, in a descriptive manner, that they provide authoring services for the Rock Band Network on their website if they (1) have accepted the end user agreement for the Magma(TM) software and (2) post the following notice prominently on their website: “This site is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Harmonix Music Systems Inc., MTV Networks or their affiliates.”

The intention of these guidelines is to allow companies to promote their role in the Rock Band Network by accurately describing their services, while maintaining a clear distinction between Harmonix/MTV and the authoring companies. Harmonix/MTV generally does not endorse any authoring companies, and we don’t want any confusion in the minds of the customers on that point. We reserve all rights, and nothing in this policy is intended to, nor shall grant, any trademark licenses.

Hopefully this clears up some of the confusion. If anyone has any questions, or would like further clarification, please email creators_support@rockband.com

Please look at the list on RockBandAide, since I am no longer updating this list:

Are you an independent musician? In a band? Are you looking for an easy way to bring your recorded music to the wildly-successful and industry-changing Rock Band rhythm game franchise? What makes RBN so exciting, and also a bit daunting, is that your songs will be created using the same advanced charting and animation system that Harmonix uses. This is where Noble Rhythm comes in. We are proud to join the ranks of creators who have assembled the right mix of computing, gaming, audio production and sequencing skills required to master Harmonix's professional-grade authoring tools. What makes Noble Rhythm unique is our philosophy, our approach, and our easy-to-use, fully-featured song upload interface. The Rock Band Network was envisioned by Harmonix to grant anyone the opportunity to sell their music on its award-winning rhythm game platform, and Noble Rhythm has adopted the same mission. What this means is that we are determined not to be a content gatekeeper. We're artists too; we're not going to pretend that we're a record label. On the other hand, we're also not going to pretend that you're buying a product. When you upload your music to Noble Rhythm, you become our creative partner; a collaborator, not a client or a customer. Noble Rhythm has created a robust account system that gives you an easy and secure way to upload your master recordings, song information, and lyrics.

We believe in empowering musicians. Not all musicians have the time or know-how to get their music in the Rock Band Network. Our business is doing the work for you so you don't have to. We will provide the translation for the tracks for a flat fee and assist you in setting up the Microsoft XNA Creator's Club. After we are done, you get to keep all your royalties from Rock Band Network sales. You did the work to create the music, and you deserve all the fruits your creation bears.

    www.redrockcharters.com
Red Rock Charters is a team of musicians and gamers dedicated to getting your music into Harmonix’s best-selling video game, Rock Band. Harmonix has now given the same tools that they use to create songs to experienced authors that are willing to put new music into Rock Band. This gives bands not only publicity, but the chance to make money from each song that is bought from the Rock Band Network. This is where Red Rock Charters comes in. We will take your multi-track recording and work with you to make sure your songs are published professionally. Our team works with all types of music and genres. We will also advertise for your band’s music and upcoming events on our website and other pages. We look forward to working with you and hope that we will be in touch soon.

We are an experienced team of individuals designed to work together with musicians, bands, and record labels to bring music into the Rock Band gaming platform through the Rock Band Network. Through streamlined processes, focused expertise, and quality control measures; our team aims to maximize sales and exposure for songs and artists as quickly as possible. Aside from original recordings, we professionally author all content required for submission, including: multi-track stem mixing, note charts, in-game camera, staging, animation and lighting events in order to deliver a fun, accurate, and musically engaging experience for all gamers to enjoy. Joseph Cirri, Sean Feica, Andrew Dovichi, Greg Litvin, Andrew Funk, Dave Barley, and Nick Bruno traveled to Boston on March 2nd, 2009 [four months prior to RBN being announced] for the first meeting concerning what would eventually be known as the Rock Band Network. Harmonix explained what the Rock Band Network was going to be and how they wanted our help with getting the community off the ground. See our portfolio here

We are passionate and competitive rhythm gamers since 1985 (over a year and a half before the release of the first game in the genre) with 20 years experience as stage/concert lighting and audio engineers, 10 years experience video editing and two and a half years experience with custom Guitar Hero track authoring; we understand the nuances required to make a premium sounding and looking Rock Band track that plays great on any difficulty. Maximize the fifteen minutes of fame by reaching more fans utilizing this new medium and letting us do the work for you at no cost upfront with a guaranteed peer review pass, from the entire project to assistance with any part of the process--even just outsourcing the final stage (distribution) to reduce overhead costs.

RockGamer Studios took an intensive course in Rock Band authoring at Harmonix HQ in Cambridge, MA. Only a select few individuals were offered the chance to be personally instructed by the game's development team. We've learned tricks from the masters that have helped raise the quality of our products one step above the competition. Our team members have worked for top-tier video game companies such as Electronic Arts, THQ, and Ubisoft. We understand the game development process. We know what gamers are looking for, and aim to deliver a top-quality gameplay experience with every track. Members of the RockGamer Studios authoring team have shared the stage with world-famous artists such as Sting, Jethro Tull, Mötley Crüe and the B-52s. We know what it's like to play in front of thousands of fans, and our mission is to recreate this adrenaline rush on the virtual stage, using the cinematic and lighting tools available to us. Most members of our authoring team have hundreds, if not thousands of hours of Rock Band playing experience. The team includes some of the most proficient "technical" Rock Band players in the world... as well as two members of The Gurn Killers, the reigning 2008 Rock Band national champions. What does this mean to you? Let's just say we're very passionate about what we do, and it shows in the quality of our work. See our portfolio here

On the bright side, now we might get to work with that band!

Site should be back up, and lightening fast now. Sorry for the troubles.

I think those who are going through the process with a "business model" in mind would be the best for bands and labels.

Yeah, don't worry about all the independents, just keep pushing forward the big names until there's nothing left for us. We don't mind. We do want to all chart for our favorite bands, but it's unreasonable for us to think that our lack of a "business model" would allow us to ever accomplish that. I apologize for being so out of line.

Being entirely honest, I am sorry for being so bitter, but being as this is one of my few hobbies and only dreams, I don't want to be constantly told by bands that they'd rather go with the option of a company filled with a bunch of guys that had a third of a year's advantage to set up a company and prepare everything. I know some people won't be interested, but I'm very afraid about having no one accept my offers someday. I want to be able to put a hobby of mine to use for once.

Dont be discouraged by not having a company. Theres going to be plenty of bands seeking help with this. I've already turned down 2 local bands cuz at first I'm going to focus on learning the process and charting my own stuff

If you actually registered this as an LLC, you're going to get sued for Trade Mark Infringement. You can't use "Rock Band" in a business name, because it's Trade Marked.

Also, you can't use Rock Band Network, either, cause guess what? That's also Trade Marked.

Not to mention we all are fans and avid Rock Band players.

We all share a common interest in darker and louder music. From Metal, and many of its sub genres... Goth Metal, Death Metal, Thrash, Symphonic to Punk, Post - Punk, Goth and Industrial. Music that has been a part of our daily lives. We feel that this genre of music has been put to the way side by the game , that when this opens up , we will jump at the chance to help get the music we love out there.
