Rank The Songs in any Album!

neckermanncjneckermanncj Washed Up
edited June 2013 in History of Rock
i saw this on a last.fm forum, and i thought it was a great idea!

pick any album and then rank the songs

for example i will go first (with an universally liked album on these forums)

The Velvet Underground & Nico

1) Femme Fatale
2) Heroin
3) Sunday Morning
4) There She Goes Again
5) I'm Waiting For The Man
6) I'll Be Your Mirror
7) Run Run Run
8) European Son
9) All Tomorrow's Parties
10) Venus In Furs
11) The Black Angel's Death Song

NOW, anyone can post any album and rank the songs, and you can quote someone and say that you think that [insert song] is better than what the person thinks.
FUN! :)

    Marquee Moon:

    1. Venus

    3. See No Evil
    4. Friction
    5. Prove It
    6. Guiding Light
    7. Elevation
    8. Torn Curtain
I hate to be "that guy", but I disagree almost entirely with this list. Though that's the beauty of opinions.

    Marquee Moon:

    1. Marquee Moon
    2. Venus
    3. Elevation
    4. Friction
    5. Torn Curtain
    6. See No Evil
    7. Guiding Light
    8. Prove It

Odd way that I made my list, though, seeing that "Guiding Light" and "See No Evil" are two of my most listened-to songs on this album, with "Torn Curtain" relatively close.

The only song I can say is a somewhat larger margin away from everything is "Prove It".

fair enough, and look, its not like "Sunday Morning" is a bad song--I rank it low for the same reasons you did for BADS--but I enjoy "Black Angel's Death Song" for the psychedelic feel to it. To me, it's like The Beatle's "Girl" and Jefferson Airplane's "Lather" mashed together...and I love it

    2. Star Sail

    7. Blue
    8. Beautiful Mind
    9. Make It Till Monday
    10. See You in the Next One (Have a Good Time)

Numbers 4-8 are all really, really close to each other. Those five could easily change around depending on my mood. 1-3 and 10 are definitely set in stone, however.

    6. Pulled Up
    7. Psycho Killer
    8. First Week/Last Week...Carefree
    9. Happy Day
    10. The Book I Read

An album in which every track is a standout is impossible to rank, but I did it.

After listening to Marquee Moon twice today (I haven't listened in a few weeks,) my opinions changed a bit. Looks more like your list now. Except "Prove It" is still last.

I like your placement of "Torn Curtain", by the way. The song doesn't get nearly enough respect.

I hate being that generic Rock Band guy (and I have listened to the whole album,) but I'd personally say my three favorite are "Lazy Eye", "Checkered Floor", and "Rusted Wheel". Also, "Well Thought Out Twinkles" is overrated.
