Song sales stats...

So, one of the things I've been wondering is if it would be possible to see the sales of songs in RB. It could be very useful when talking to a band, trying to convince them that this could benefit them financially, if you can say "This band released a song in the real world AND in Rock Band and it's sales tripled" or some such. Can we get access to those numbers? Or at least a good example we can use?

I seriously doubt it. They won't be published anywhere public, that's for sure. I suppose you could try emailing the bands themselves and asking if they'll release those numbers to you, but they won't be posted anywhere for everybody to see.

The ones I want to see are the Hautewerk and Big Dipper type band of band stats. These would give basic numbers for the small indie band. The Earache thash pack for the lesser known complicated rb charts metal bands what a lot of the rbn stuff is. Maybe the hmx bands that haven't had songs on previous guitar hero/ rb games also.

As for the mainstream group promoting a new album Saints of Los Angeles by Mötley Crüe(song) what was released the same time as the album had 48,000 rb song downloads and 14,000 itunes downloads in the first week. link

I think it would also be nice to see a graphed dlc rate of a song. Example if there was a huge explosion at the start that would represent the buy all dlc people then if it dropped off significantly it would show the actual rate of people who like the sound of it that were buying it, so they were discovering a new band.

I'm not sure it been officially announced what exactly you'll have access to (as an author) - much like what developers within the XNA service do now.

    how many trial downloads
    how many purchases
how many downloaded a trial and then purchased it with hitting the upgrade button (trying to exit out of the trial & it prompts you to buy - this is a different number than those that just click purchase from the start).
how long you played before exiting out of the trial.

I linked some sales stats from some of the XNA games in another recent thread. Not exactly what your looking for as far as RB stats (I'm sure HMX has that) but it gives you an idea of whats going on in the marketplace.

For instance the Rumble Massage XNA game (its an app really) has upwards of 60,000 downloads (when article was published) mainly because a porn star did a review of the game over a webcast.
