Issue 26 – With a little help from our friends (you guys) – Fri Nov 13, 2009 @ 4:26 PM
Hey guys and gals, we’ve got some exciting news happening next week – we will be releasing Sgt. Peppers’ Lonely Hearts Club Band as full-album downloadable content for The Beatles: Rock Band! Originally released in 1967, this milestone album for The Beatles laid the groundwork for the psychedelic rock to come and has been hailed by many as one of the greatest albums of all time. Remember, you’ll need a copy of The Beatles:Rock Band in order to play through this landmark release.

If you want the chance to Rock out with your blocks out, then the recently released LEGO Rock Band should be right up your alley. Featuring tracks ranging from Incubus to Jimi Hendrix, there’s something there to please everyone in the family. Want to play these tracks in Rock Band 2? Export all the songs onto your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 hard drive! Build a band and rock the universe.

We’ve also released two more poscasts for your listening enjoyment! Hear our interview with Paul and Storm (of Paul & Storm fame), learn more about Rock Band Network and, as always, listen to our DLC round-ups and a plethora of giggles. We also have a host of awesome interview and articles available (ever want to see Big Dipper sing Cannibal Corpse?) at The ‘Zine. You’d do yourself a disservice by not checking it out!

Issue 25 – Events and the Secret Life of Scientists - Friday Oct 30, 2009 at 12:27 PM Eastern
Hey, Boston area fans of The Beatles: Rock Band! On Sunday, November 8, we will be teaming up with the Somerville Theater to host a special screening of A Hard Day’s Night followed by a TB:RB competition of the big screen! We’ll be handing out loads of prizes and running an informal Q&A in between songs. Come for the movie, stay for the gaming! You can buy tickets in advance and hit up the Rock Band Local page for info on events in your area. If you’re hosting an awesome RB event, shoot us an emal and we’ll get your story up on the website! We’ll make you famous!

In other news, Harmonix Co-Founder and CTO Eran Egozy recently sat down with the PBS program NOVA to talk about music, science, video games, the early days of HMX, and his secret life as a clarinetist. Check him out on “The Secret Life of Scientists”!

Energizer is still looking for a rock band they can fly to NYC and pamper like rock stars for a weekend, so if you think you can pull off a marathon performance at the MTV Store in Times Square, don’t forget to sign up for the Advance Into Overdrive Challenge. We’re also gearing up for an Energizer Battle of the Bands that could win you the entire RB DLC catalog, a year’s worth of batteries, and all sorts of other limited swag! The first round kicks off on November 16.

Oh, hey, don’t forget that LEGO Rock Band is coming out soon! If you need a reminder of the epic (and exportable!) song content in the game (Queen! Tom Petty! Europe! Bon Jovi! David Bowie! Elton John! Jackson 5! Iggy Pop!) just check out the set list. You should see LRB on the store shelves starting November 3, so mark your calendar!

Issue 24 – Community Goings On - Friday Oct 16, 2009 @ 12:05 PM Eastern
In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been cranking out a ton of new web content for RockBand.com lately. We asked the folks on the forums what you wanted more of, and you told us! Hopefully we delivered. Check out some of the stuff that we’ve posted in the last week or so.

Al Jourgensen, the madman behind Ministry, joined us for an interview to talk about Rock Band, the Chicago Blackhawks, and his cameo in the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow!

Even though PAX wrapped up last month, we’ve still got loads of stories to share. HMXpope put together a video documenting our whirlwind weekend at one of the gaming’s greatest community events. Featuring guest appearances by Jonathan Coulton, Pal and Storm, and Destructoid’s Nick Chester! Don’t miss HMXsean’s write up on his impromptu flash mob tweetup either… who knows when he’ll come and dance in our town!

Oh yeah, we put out a podcast too! We’ll be putting them out every other week to balance out the newsletter shipments. In our first podcast episode we talked RB with Claudio from Coheed and Cambria as well as Tim Schafer of Brutal Legend. Plus lost of giggling!

Do you think you have want it takes to power through a marathon Rock Band performance live from the MTV Store in Times Square and party like a rock star for a weekend in New York City? We’re teaming up with Energizer to find the group with enough personality and fan power to pull it off. To learn more about the “Advance into Overdrive Challenge” head on over to the official site and start building your fan page with photos and videos. We’ll see you in NYC!

If you’re looking for a rhythm gaming fix while you’re on the go, Rock Band on the iPhone and iPod Touch has what you’re looking for. This is the first time RB is hitting the App Store, and we’re arriving in style with Live Bluetooth Multiplayer, unlockable rewards and achievements, and additional downloadable content. For our 10th zine (wow, can’t believe it’s been this long), I thought we’d bring you something special.

It’s the one you’ve been waiting for, kids. Three words: Stevie Ray Vaughn. You read that right! The highly anticipated Texas Flood will be coming to Rock Band next month, giving all you players a chance to rock out with one of the greatest guitarists of all time! This ground breaking album helped revitalize blues in the 80’s and launched the careers of both Vaughan and his band, Double Trouble.

As always, keep your eye on future editions of the Official Rock Band community Zine for RB Community highlights as well as advanced heads-up on DLC!

    Issue 9 - Welcome to the New Year - Wed Jan 7, 2009 @ 12:06 PM
2008 was a busy year for everyone in the Rock Band community. While you guys were burning through the weekly downloadable content, putting together supergroups and dominating the leader boards, the community team here at Harmonix was out in full force, exploring every corner of the world that makes up Rock Band.

We attended regular Rock Band nights at our favorite local spots and we travelled the world over to crash other RB nights as well. We’ve made appearance at bars in NYC and we’ve shown up at house parties so far up in Washington that you could see Canada from the back yard. We’ve attended conventions in Germany, rocked out with fans in Japan, and we were there when GameCity besieged Nottingham England for a week.

Harmonix was there at E3 and PAX, where we rocked out with press and fans alike. We’ve been front and center at MTV’s VMAs, SXSW, the Sundance Film Festival, the Grammy’s, and more. We’ve also been involved with some amazing charities, and we’ve played Rock Band at LIFEbeat events as well as at local children’s hospitals

Big event or small get together, at home and abroad, if people are playing Rock Band then we want to be part of it. We did quite a bit of traveling in 2008 and we’re sure to do even more in 2009.

If you have a regular Rock Band night you should tell us about it. If you see one of us at a Rock Band event you should stop by and say hello. We’re going to be getting a lot more involved with the Rock Band Community in 2009, and you can check the RB.com Zine as well as future newsletters for more into about events we attend, bands we play with, and the community that makes Rock Band what it is.

    Issue 8 – Say hello to the eighth issue – Fri Dec 5, 2008 @ 4:56 PM
When Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos got up on stage at E3 this past summer and declared that Rock Band would have 500 songs available by the end of this year, it was such a lofty goal that it left a lot of people wondering whether or not we’d be able to pull it off.

Well, as of this week, we’re happy to announce that Rock Band has cracked the 500 song mark with several weeks to spare!

    The Stats:
    * 160 on disc songs, including Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Rock Band AC/DC Track Pack
    * 345 downloadable tracks released to date averaging over 6 new tracks a week since RB launched
    * 55 weeks of consecutive downloadable content
    * Most DLC released in one week: 25 tracks on 11/4
    * 239 different artists currently have tracks featured in the Rock Band set list.
    * 8 full albums currently available, with a collection of No Doubt’s greatest hits set to become the 9th album next week
    * Over 28 million tracks downloaded so far

For a full list of every song currently available you can head over to “the music” section at RockBand.com.

We’ve got no plans to stop releasing DLC any time in the near future, so keep posted to see what 2009 will hold!

Another handy Sayburr thread. :D Looks like you're going in reverse chronological order? I guess you'll be shifting them down as more come out?

Yeah, that is my plan. Keeping the newest at the top...

If anyone has older issues I wouldn't mind trying to get them all on here. I did a web search trying to find an online archive somewhere but my Google-fu either is not strong enough or there isn't one.

Thanks, I just put #22 up on the OP... This will take a while!

Sorry that you have to break each Zine into four parts, must be a pain in the butt to do, but I really appreciate it.

If it would be easier, PM me and I will send you my e-mail addy so you can just send them to me...
The reason they're each in four parts is because each Zine is actually 4 separate pictures, so I'd have to save them separately anyways. This way is actually working pretty good, so I'll stick with it if you don't mind.

    EDIT: Ok I've uploaded all I have. I'm missing # 2-10, 12, 15, and 18.
