yeah I'm really loving this album. only songs I'd call weak are "March On" and "Cameo"

    **** that, those songs rule.

Mind Games is the weakest. Makes me feel like I'm listening to Total Devo.

That one actually reminds me of the track "Bushwhacked" from the Recombo DNA compilation. Like in that song, the main melody is made up of seemingly random, cool synth noises. The lyrics are kind of dumb like on Total Devo though

Good find chumsicles, because I'm really liking this album so far (on track 3).

Got to start looking into them more. They're neglected among my new wave collection.

Don't look into their last three albums, they're atrocious! : D

Naw dawg. Smooth Noodle Maps is pretty good. So is Shout, but really only if you get the '08 jap remaster.

I would definitely not recommend listening to the last 3 first though.

I've been following this new album for about a year now, and I'm making it my job to spread the news to as many people as possible

First three albums are essential, then the next two after that if you like the first three enough. Anything past Oh, No! It's Devo (with the exception of this fantastic new album) is best avoided, unless you really really love Devo and 80's synthpop in general

I had the choice between this and three used CDs. When I realized the used CDs were Odelay, Remain in Light and Daydream Nation, I put this back on the shelf, needless to say. But I am still determined to get this!

I agree with March On, but I think No Place Like Home is the other weak one here. But I agree with ohter posters that Don't Shoot is amazing. The lukewarm critical reception for the album is disappointing though.

What the ****, March On and No Place Like Home are two of the best Devo songs EVER. They're definitely the best on the album.

I liked every song on first listen. So, this is definitely gonna zoom to the top of my 2010 list after more listens.

I disagree. That would be a bad thing, IMO.

yeah, this is more of a mix between Freedom of Choice and Duty Now For the Future, but watered down a bit

Which is good, as those are two of the trilogy of good albums they put out pre-hiatus. I'm seriously thinking this new one is top 5 of the year/best Devo album ever. I need another listen, though.

Right now that top 5 has it:

    1. Alcest - Ecailles de Lune
    2. The Besnard Lakes - The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night
    3. Surfer Blood - Astro Coast
    4. Joanna Newsom - Have One on Me
    5. Devo - Something for Everybody

I think it recalls Oh, No! It's Devo in overall mood (really excited and bouncy-sounding), but with the sonic textures of New Traditionalists (dense layers of fuzzy synths, heavily treated drums, and guitar providing incidental coloring around the corners)

New Tra was good, though the whole "serious" factor brings it down a bit
