Tracy Bonham has been compared to other groundbreaking female musicians of her generation, namely Alanis Morissette and Liz Phair, but she has retained her own sound. Bonham's music, while hard rocking and sometimes characterized as angry, has been influenced by her classical training in violin and voice. She received two Grammy nominations in 1997 for Best Alternative Album and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.Tracy recorded songs for her new album in Woodstock, NY beginning in 2007 and ending in 2009. The album will be titled Masts of Manhatta. The album was produced by Bonham and mixed by Tchad Blake, and will be released on July 13, 2010 under the New York City indie label Engine Room Recordings in the United States and Lojinx in the UK.Tracy is well recognized in Blue Man Group's fan base. She sang on their album The Complex and performed with them on the accompanying tour. She opened for the group on the first leg of their second national tour, How to be a Megastar Tour 2.0, and performed during their set for all of the songs requiring a female vocal. Tracy also made an appearance on America's Got Talent where she sang and played violin for Blue Man Group's performance of "Baba O'Riley".
