i was shooting for the drummers from the late 60s/70s who played hard rock for mainstream bands

Gin Blossoms were one of the best bands of the 90's.
i dunno about the best, but they are very enjoyable (and put on a good show live)

here's one for me: Mastodon is horrible

My most unpopular opinion is that Cookie Monster is a ****ty vocalist. How he got the frontman job in practically every death metal band extant is beyond me. He neither scares me nor impresses me. He just makes me very, very sad.

A bunch of Death Metal Vocalists should get together and do a cover of "C is for Cookie", Death Metal style. :D

I've always thought some brave soul should do a remake of the Osmonds' "I'm a Little Bit Country" to fit today's society:

Female vocalist: "I'm a little bit hippy..."
Cookie Monster: "... and I'M A LITTLE BIT DEATH METAL!"

Fair enough, although jazz drummers in avant-garde music outfits would an interesting list as well :D

(That's what I get for not reading far enough back in the discussion...)

My favorite metal drummer is Ian Paice, if Deep Purple counts as metal.

At the moment that is, I've just been hooked on Burn for the last week or two. Clive Burr is also awesome...
    travis barker's a good drummer.
    +1

    I tolerate their second LP.
    I enjoy their third LP.

This is more or less my opinion. I think their debut had a few good songs, but all around as not very good.

Their second was great, and their third was better. I love their collaboration with Lou Reed, "Some Kind Of Nature". That and "On Melancholy Hill" are probably my two favorites from Plastic Beach.

    Their third

From what i heard, they were having some serious personal issues, and he left the band because he was just over it.he asked DEP's record label if they would release him from his contract so he could play on No world for tomorrow, and they refused. With as nice of a dude as he is,there is no way in hell that is true.
