Still, I would've thought BOTR and Maybe I'm Amazed (bona fide Macca hits) would've at least sold well as singles. Maybe BOTR would have sold higher if there wasn't already an inferior live version --- some people can't stand having two versions of the same song in their library, even if one version is clearly superior (including masters over originals, in cases like Rush and Iron Maiden).

It's just depressing that the three lowest-selling RB3 DLC tracks are songs by Lennon and McCartney. Their other stuff isn't exactly setting the charts ablaze, either. That's just sad.

A logical reason for this could be that their respective solo catalogues aren't nearly as popular and/or impressive as the Beatles' work. Furthermore, the song choices for so far have been pretty unimpressive. E.g. for Lennon, it would have made more sense (and sell better) to release a pack of top songs from different albums than Imagine as a full album dlc.

Paul's been out for a week. Lennon less than a month. Give it time. Once the selection gets wider, they'll climb.

Just FYI, "Plastic Ono Band" is a better album than most Beatles albums. And that's not just me saying, that's pretty much a consensus. It's just a masterpiece. Also "All Things Must Pass" and "Ram" are fantastic albums as well.

It's not relevant because we have no songs in RB for any of these 3 albums, but still it's not like everything the ex-beatles did is worthless. Only everything they did after 1976 :-).

Any guesses about where the Rock Band Free Pack 01 is going to debut?

For comparison purposes, the last two free downloads were Am I Crazy, which came in at 542 out of 1040 total, and Rock Band Network Megamix 01, which came in at 579 out 1228. There are currently 1419 downloads total.

I would not have guessed that it was possible for new DLC to do as well as the Rock Band Free Pack has done. So many more people have RB1 and RB2 than have RB3 that I didn't think RB3 DLC could compete with the top older DLC. Beyond that, free downloads are XBox Live Gold exclusives for the first week, so I was expecting a relatively slow first week and then a big jump the second week when everyone with XBox Silver accounts picked it up.

I was wrong on both counts, and am generally amazed.

"I Walk the Line" & "Folsom Prison Blues" selling better than the pack, that was to be expected. Still thought it would sell better.

The free songs really jumped up there. Looks like people are starting to realise there is a music store and how to find out about new music.

Wow, "Welcome To The Black Parade" is still in the top 10 in sales? Imagine how well it would have done if it were RB3 version with the keyboard being used.

The old Rush album is still a big seller it looks like...

Looking over the chart, I was surprised to see certain items extremely low on the charts including "Subdivisions" being waaaaay down there. I'm talking close to #1000 for the week. Maybe everyone already bought it? I'm not sure.

Well, maybe there are still a lot of people buying RB2 only songs because they have not moved to RB3 yet...

Don't Stop Believing is at #12? Wasn't that song released almost two years ago? How the heck is it still in the top 25 of the week? Has it ever dropped out of it?

Subdivisions is listed twice on the sales charts. The one listed at around 1000 is '"Subdivisions" (Pro)'. In other words, the pro guitar/bass upgrade. "Subdivisions" the song is sitting around 60. For some reason, the only songs which list the pro upgrades are Subdivisions and Light My Fire.

"Moving Pictures" is undoubtedly where it is this week because of the sale. I expect the other packs which are on sale are elevated, but I haven't gone looking.

"Don't Stop Believing" is simply unstoppable. Except for the free downloads, nothing is competing with it in terms of staying power, although the other All Time top songs also show generally strong sales.

Is there anyway to even estimate actual sales numbers on these?
For instance, if only 100 actual people bought any of the Johnny Cash stuff, and 25 people happened upon the store because of the sale, and picked up "Don't Stop Believing" while they were there...I'm saying, literally numbers that low.

It just seems like this week's results seem to indicate that DLC isn't as widespread a buy as maybe we've previously thought. If everyone who has RB3 got the free pack, and it catapults into nearly the top 25% of all time sold, it doesn't seem like it takes many sales to make a drastic impact on the charts.

I guess what I'm saying is I have a hard time picturing a scenario in which thousands and thousands of people finally got to buying "Don't Stop Believing" or "Poker Face" or "Drop it Like it's Hot" last week alone.

Wow RB3 free pack at #354.

Reports of RB3 demise are clearly greatly exaggerated with all the sales of this one.

I'm guessing a lot of folks who still don't have RB3 yet still grabbed this knowing they'll want it when they do.

That said, wow. Around Top 25% at launch is pretty cool.
