Very varied list I like it, but if you want to make it more varied add some ska, blues, jazz, and a novelty or other genre for fun.
for Ska I suggest this song: Down, Down, Down To Mephisto's Cafe

Not enough 60's or Metal. Some odd choices too. It's ok overall.

I love metal too but the op is aiming for a varied setlist, 9-12 metal songs should be enough.

5 more songs have been added to beef up an already large setlist.

"(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)" by the Beastie Boys was added for two reasons: it's an awesome song and I wanted another easy song for the band overall.

"Whiplash" by Metallica has been added to help please the metal gods that be. I consider it to be in the top 3 hardest guitar songs on my list. More metal might be added soon.

"Doomsday" by Atreyu has been added to the '00s to help bring more metal to the list, as well as challenge to the decade.

"96 Tears" by ? and The Mysterians has been added to help flesh out the '60s (still in progress) and to add another easy song for drums (I noticed there weren't a whole lot of 0/6 for drums).

"Strange Days" by The Doors has been added to the list. I was torn between this and a few other songs by them, namely "The Changeling", "When The Music's Over" and "My Eyes Have Seen You". I chose this one mainly because of it being short and not drawn out to the point of boredom (When the Music's Over), it's more well known than the other two and I wanted a trippy song to have a really cool music video for.

As far as Jazz and Ska are concerned, they were considered for the list, but, for right now, I'm focusing on main setlist as it is (genre-wise, that is). I am still looking into artists to add for the genres and will be doing DLC posts for my non-existant game. Jazz and Ska (among others) are already going to be in those posts.

I do appreciate the input, and I'm sorry for the lack of Metal. That will be rectified. Some of the "odd choices" were put in there because, like HMX did with RB3, I'm willing to look past some of the more obvious names and genres for something "different" (country on-disc, electronic music, indie pop, etc.). Plus, The keyboard really opens up the music choices one can make (hence why I kinda strayed away from metal/thrash a little).

The main concern I have for the list at the moment is the length. Even at 115 songs now, the list feels bloated, so expect cuts here and there in the near future (especially if any of these songs gets released in the real world as DLC). The maximum I want it to be is 120, but, like I said, it feels bloated even now.

So, again, thanks for the input everyone. Feel free to leave suggestions for artists for both the main setlist and DLC announcements (which will occur every Friday)

The Varied Setlist is a good Idea and the amount of Metal songs being 9-12 is good for the purpose of this set list but the OP really should put some variety into his metal choices. Perhaps some Nocturnus, Bal Sagoth, or Tristania would add some variety

Right on, then I suggest you add "It Was A Good Day" to add to the Hip Hop genre.

You should add in a Dream Theater to both add to the metal genre and have another keyboard song, I suggest "Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper"

Just one thing that tipped me off here is Fight For Your Right. 1. Awesome song, and I love the Beastie Boys, and 2. I don't think it would be a 0 on Guitar, just for the small guitar solos that scatter the end of the song. I'd say 1, maybe 2. 3. Ultimately, I would have gone with No Sleep Til' Brooklyn to begin with.
    Just sayin.
Oh, and Beck. Missin' some beck.

Why does this setlist not have "November Rain" by Guns 'n' Roses?

    UPDATE:

Removed about 10 songs due to both list length and the fact that while I and others may love them, they didn't quite gel with the rest of the setlist. The new list is a fairly realistic/sizeable 105, ranging from the '50s to today.

Fischerspooner, Blink-182, Hannah Georgas and Veruca Salt all have new songs in the list.

2 songs were added to the '80s:
Agent Orange - "Bloodstains" (THPS4 Anyone?)
Guns'N'Roses - "Paradise City" ('nuff said)

The first few DLC announcements will be made tomorrow. Already, RB3 DLC releases are making this more difficult, lol.

    Feel free to leave comments/suggestions.

Well, it took a while (about 9 months), but I think I may finally be satisfied with my setlist (mostly). It's now 98 songs, 50's through today and nearly every genre featured in the series is represented. What do you guys think? What should stay, what should go? What's awesome? What's not so awesome? Is there too much of one genre? Too little (besides metal)?

It's not bad, but it's far too easy, at least on Guitar, anyway. I would say only three of the songs you rated Devil-Tier are actually Devil-Tier. And it needs more metal.

But I would still probably buy it.

We have Superstition, Symphony of Destruction, Ignorance, and Have You Ever Seen The Rain now. But I really like some of the songs on this setlist. I'm a huge 80s new wave fan, and seeing 99 Luftballons, I'm Gonna Be, and I Ran made my day. There's lots of other good songs on this list too. I would prolly buy it, although the 2000s section is kind of meh to me.
