Ah, those money issues. I hope the Wilpons can find a group that will buy a minority stake in the team, and apparently they have some groups in mind. I heard an optimistic outlook say they'll have an agreement in place by the end of this month, so even if that doesn't work, they should have a buyer by the end of the season.

Of course, that lawsuit is still a problem, but I don't think they'll have to pay the full amount the lawsuit is asking for. A lot of it is reparations since the suit claims the Wilpons either knew of Madoff's scheme or are woefully ignorant. Stupidity may be a defense here. Look at how they run the Mets! :p

This post is a few days old now, but I'll still add this on here:

    RIP Harmon Killebrew

the sox are on a nice little roll here. the path to respectability is a little more clear now that the hitting is catching up a little bit. the weather is heating up and so is the cuban missile!

yeah they're quietly sitting there respectfully in the standings.

in the meantime, seems like the Sox are going back to getting banged up again. I know it was said it wasn't serious, but with Pedroia having a leg injury on top of two starters going down, this season is starting to smack a little of the '10 campaign healthwise. still, the offense (last night notwithstanding) has heated up a bit

oh, and if Daisuke indeed needs TJ surgery, I wouldnt be surprised if he has throw his last pitch with the Sox

don't look now but the brew crew is also making a nice little move haha.

poojols finally broke that monster HR slump.

The Brewers are playing roughly .500 ball which is close to what I expected, albeit a coupe more wins than I predicted.

I think a few games against the absolutely crap-tacular Dodgers will do the Marlins some good too.

M's over .500 at the last weekend in May.

Saying I didn't expect this would be an understatement

I'm actually quite shocked the Mets are only a few games under .500 at this point.

And now they are talking about possibly trading Wright? And they're most likely losing Reyes and Beltran after the season to free agency or during the season via trade... what are they smoking up there?
  • ultimatespidey81ultimatespidey81 Headliner

they are smoking reality lol. there was no way they were gonna be able to resign reyes and i doubt they have interest in bringing back beltran. trading wright would be a mistake. i think he's got some years left on his deal right?

they have to retool. beginning with pitching.

I'd say trade K-Rod, keep Wright (it makes absolutely no sense to trade him at this point), and let Beltran test free agency. And maybe trade Reyes before the deadline to get something for him and re-build their depleted farm system. Beltran is having a good year but he's been on the decline, he only maybe has 2-3 solid years left, let him go to a contending team that's willing to take a chance on him (*cough*Yankees*cough*).

IF he can stay healthy, and that's a big IF. his defense isnt what it was and it seems he's more suited to the DH role.

im sure they could find someone to take on k-rod but they would have to eat a good part of the contract, i would think. beltran and reyes both need to be traded.

reyes would fit in nicely with the giants. i know that was a rumor a little while ago. maybe come away with bumgarner or something like that.
