I found these links. They show a little of the interface. Looks like Slow Hands by Interpol and When I'm With You by Best Coast are in the game.

Seems interesting. As someone else sorta said, I dunno how accurate the scoring will be.

It might turn out to be all right. They aren't throwing any instruments in a volcano, which is a good sign :p

I don't understand the disdain for 'traditional' music video games (as shown in the RS article). It's a GAME. Games are fun. Learning real guitar is, y'know, learning. Learning CAN be fun, I guess, but it's more work than a game. If you wouldn't call a COD player a poser for not joining the army, I don't see why anyone should have any hate for a fakey plastic 5 button guitar. Because everyone knows it's fakey and plastic. Because that's all it was ever supposed to be. A damn game.

    a) bandwagon hopping
    b) paid by ubisoft to write the article
    c) both

The sheer denial that Rock Band 3's pro mode exists just feels...funny.

Sorry if it was already posted... Ubisoft just announced a new real guitar game : RockSmith

You need a real guitar (any guitar) and you plug it to the console thanks to a Jack-USB interface

    Links :

It seems there are no pictures or in-game video at the moment.

By reading the game description, it looks more like the OFFBEAT game (http://www.offbeatforum.com/jamorigin/) than RB3

    What do you think ?

In the article, they forgot to mention Rock Band 3 has a mode in which you can learn how to play Guitar. Is Pro mode that unknown? This a shame, as even on videogaming sites they don't know what the game is capable of..Bad advertisement..

I don't know what to say, honestly. Nowadays, everything Ubisoft makes is a pile load of crap, and if there was a way to make a Guitar/Rhythm game with a true guitar and a "simple" USB/Jack adaptor, I think HMX would have used a similar technology..I trust HMX rather than the geniouses who brought us "We Dare", so guess my conclusions.

If this sells more than RB3, though..Meh, can't even think about it.

Kotaku has already run an article on it, not that hard to think people are finding it all over the place. Not to mention, there's already a thread going in the less rokk more talk section (albeit with a not-obvious title), which showed up on the forums 4 hours before this thread was created. The person that created that thread had the link above to Rolling Stone, and it's not that hard to imagine that some people who play Rock Band may regularly read Rolling Stone.

Prepare you razor. The game interface seems so awkward.. Flags? o_o Meh.

The main problem I have with this game and the short reviews that came along with is the lack of reference of RB3 and its Pro Mode.

It's just disappointing and I think HMX really did the worst job ever at advertising "The" groundbreaking revolution of rhythm games. It's like they wanted the mode to be loved only by informed gamers and we hardcore fans. I just don't get it.

What seems like the biggest Make it or Break it is the fact that you can use any guitar. That has to be damn near clunky as hell, or damn near impossible. I'm not sure of the accuracy of measuring sound wavelengths or, vibrations within the string, whatever the heck it is it's not gonna end up being accurate, and it's gonna end up spawning bad reviews.

My first reaction was... Cool, everyone begging for RB's competition just had their prayers answered.
After seeing the ads, I'm a little less sure. It can teach you guitar it seems (as long as you only want to learn one string at a time notes), but there doesn't appear to be any sorta multiplayer "band" mode, which is a huge fail from a gamers perspective.
Ubisoft can probably at least prepare to be eatin' up by Activision.

EDIT: "loogie"? What the hell is that iPhone?

On some sites the user comments about this press release give the impression that people seem to be more aware of Power Gig's failed attempt at using a guitar than they are of RB3's Pro mode with the Squier/Mustang.

I'm torn about this: On one hand, IF it works with ANY guitar then RB3's Pro Mode is either stone dead or HMX will have to get a patch out that can use RockSmith's converter ASAP. On the other hand, I'm far from convinced that the RockSmith converter will work for anything but single notes, esp not in fast sequences. and what about lag? Even though this solution seems to be wired, I'm afraid it will take quite some time to convert the audio into game data which means that the lag will be noticeable. But IF it works then I'll be all over it. Won't buy it before I've read some reliable reviews though. I'm quite sure this will be a lot better than Power Gig which you could see was going to be c**p by just reading their descriptions on the site. Good enough to give Rock Band a match? Not so sure, but with the right marketing they will sell a noticeable amount of games. I'll follow the development with a great deal of interest to see if they can pull it off.

How would the "simple" USB/Jack adaptor even work? It would have to be very limited in what it could detect. Give me a MIDI input to hook up my Squier and I'll be more interested.

This game is further proof HMX needs to finally get their fingers out and get some Rolling Stones DLC for RB. One song with the initial games release is not enough when even new to the genre efforts secure their music for games. It was bad enough seeing every GH disc bring more from one of the biggest known bands on the planet not to mention a healthy offering of DLC.

As for the game itself... i couldnt care less. If i wanted to play real guitar i would ask my mate to show me, he plays in bands and teaches music for a living so ive no need for any music game to do so.

Based on the very limited description from the articles, it sounds like the game will not detect if you are playing the correct note/chord. It will just use the quarter inch audio connection to make sure you're playing "something" as each gem is reached on screen. It's funny that one of the articles called the other franchises "primitive" by comparison.
