edited March 2011 in Your Ultimate Setlist
Greetings! If you may recall (which you don't), I made a Rock Band setlist about 9 months ago. The setlist was extensive and wasn't really that great.

Now I am back with another setlist! This one has exactly 100 songs, and even has its own website with (currently under gradual construction) information on each song.

http://www.fakerockbandfour.webs.com

(If you're looking for the song listings, then go to the Blog section)

Comments will follow.

I've never heard anything by them. And besides, I want to keep this from growing like my old setlist by having it at a set 100 songs.

Apparently so, and on RB1, too. That's what I get for not checking what we have already.

I'll try to replace it with one of those Bathory songs.

Your punk choices need to be a lot better and varied, also, you only have one prog song.

    Not bad otherwise.

I know and like 33/100 of the songs. Eh... you have some great choices, though. It's my fault because I don't know most of it.

    Horribly generic.

Although I know you often seem to pick "pointless" fights, I will agree that my setlist is not the most... diverse.

Also, if the people who said I need better choices, any help would be appreciated. :)

I'm not saying anything about its variety or lack of, I'm saying that there's no picks on there that surprised me when I saw the artist.

Would it sell as a game like that? Sure.

Is it interesting to read as a hypothetical idea like that? Absolutely not.

    Oh, I see.

Well in some of the cases I only knew a few songs by some artists (including well-known ones like Aerosmith, Primus, Muse, Neil Young, The Who, Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Danzig, and ZZ Top) so I either relied on what few songs I knew by them (which are usually the most popular ones) or looked at their most bought songs on iTunes.

I did, however, try to include some deeper cuts or avoid using repeats from other games (For example, I put Thriller on because Beat It was on GH. Bad example, I know). Not in all cases (as seen with Mother, Knights of Cydonia, or Black Rain), but when has a Rock Band game never had any repeats from Guitar Hero?

People seem to ignore that Michael Jackson has another great rock song, Dirty Diana. (Which i like a lot more than Beat It.)

Switch Thriller with Dirty Diana, add a little more variety, take chances with some high profile artists and include some obscure songs, and you got yourself a good setlist

I don't know if I can, since I'm going in alphabetical order on my website for the game, and changing things would mess up the order badly... I'm stuck.

    Oh well, perhaps next time.

Yeah, I've got to agree, there's really not a lot of variety. And many of the hit songs I think of when I think of a lot of these artists weren't here, and that's fine if that isn't what you were going for, but you said you were more mainstream, so I thought it was kind of odd.

Well it's not like I didn't try to add in some of the deeper cuts of some artists. Although it is a fact that some of my musical tastes are more developed than others.

No one has undeveloped musical tastes. People hear what they like and they listen to it. Just because one may listen to songs that were never singles on the radio doesn't mean that someone who only listens to the radio has undeveloped tastes because they haven't heard the songs someone else has. I'm quite certain that the radio listeners have a different musical taste than those who don't, but their taste in music is definitely not an undeveloped taste in music.

The only people who MIGHT have an undeveloped taste in music are the people who refuse to listen to the current music. By not listening to the current music, one is hindering their own musical taste.

Finally, difference is what makes the world go round, so those who don't believe that can NOT have a developed musical taste. Just because someone likes metal and someone else likes rap does not mean that the rap-liker has an underdeveloped musical taste.
