RBN for Australia?

Is there any real reason why Australian accounts cannot access RBN songs for purchase, and is it possible to allow Australians access to these songs at all?

Microsoft's XNA platform only supports certain countries and Australia is not one of them. RBN on the 360 works off XNA so it has the same restrictions unfortunately. Microsoft claim to be always looking to expand the service to other regions but there's no indication of when or what that will be.

Well it's been too long. I doubt they'll ever do it. Looks like I'm using a foreign account after all.

The problem in Australia is that it's illegal to sell unrated media, which is what XNA is made up of, since it's not worth paying the fees to the classification board for the often minimal sales. Which is why we actually can join XNA and submit games, but not buy them.

Of course, this doesn't even apply to DLC. So there would be 2 solutions here. One, would be for Microsoft to allow XNA, and then block everything except RBN. The other would be for mass media classification reform in Australia.

Both of these solutions are unlikely. And yeah. It seems you arealy know the way to get RBN in Australia. ;)

The most likely reason why XBN (and thus RBN) is not available in a particular country or region is some kind of local legal issue. This explanation is as good a reason as any why. At least for OZ.

If your country is not included in the 'may buy' list, then you really need to start making waves on your own. Contact your particular representatives and try and organise for a change. Microsoft (or any other company really) will only put so much effort into trying to change a national law.
