I just checked youtube and it appears "Nugget Man" is catagorized incorrectly here. It's not Pop-Rock, it's Novelty, no?

For reference: "Movies" by Alien Ant Farm is officially back up now as well.

    Novelty can be pretty subjective.

I mean I consider Weird al a pop rock band, and not Novelty.

If it sounds like a song and not just random goofiness like Nom Nom Nom, then it should be Pop Rock IMO.

Nugget Man sounds like a pop rock song.

Novelty to me just describes the lyrics, not the music. It's not very good as a genre, in my opinion.
  • edited October 2011
Yeah i think i would save "Novelty" for someone like Parry Gripp (less the 2 minutes of plain goofiness) or the Cartman cover of Pokerface.

Decent week i suppose for RBN (ps3).
Will get all, but excited to see Nugget Man.
Not too thrilled about the others though.

You're right. I knew that "Fuzzy Man (Fuzzy Nation)" by the same artist is Pop-Rock rather than Novelty (which I still find bizarre) and then made a mistake.

    It will be corrected shortly.

Very thrilled about Moonlight Sonata on the PS3, and I'll pick up the Free Spirit track as well.

Really hoping Mile Marker Zero's Reaping Tide will make it to the PS3 at some point as well, because that's an amazing song.

As for genre classification, I personally think calling the Shylo Elliott song prog is a bit of a stretch, probably would've just gone for 'other' there myself.

I dont mean to be a downer but... Why do XBOX get like twice the songs than the ps3? It should be more fair IMO

Old news. The PS3 gets 5 songs a week ported over from those that are available on the Xbox, although all songs are exclusive to the Xbox for at least 30 days. This is because RBN is built around Microsoft's XNA platform, which is only available on the Xbox, although the 5-a-day limit is imposed by Sony.

He knows all this, it has been explained to him in the past by HMXLachesis and others. It seems he just likes to complain about things that HMX or the RBN authors can't really change.

PS3 players should pickup Moonlight Sonata... anyone who say's it's boring is an uncultured savage :). Joking obviously, but it's really fun on pro.

I might have to check out the Shylo Elliot song, probably listen to some of the others as well. Not touching A Day to Remember with a 20 foot pole.

    Purchased these 2...
Free Spirit - "Cry of an Eagle" (160 MSP)
The Asbestos - "Say" (80 MSP)

The Asbestos is well worth the 80MSP! http://youtu.be/1yC8jHBDVWA

The Free Spirit track works well with the Stage Kit :)

We should send him to Sony's office and maybe he'd annoy them enough to change the limit :D lol.
(Or he'd get thrown out their building.. either one)

Mile Marker Zero - "Reaping Tide" (160 MSP)
Shylo Elliott - "Dark Escape" (160 MSP)
A Day to Remember - "All Signs Point to Lauderdale" (160 MSP)
Free Spirit - "Cry of an Eagle" (160 MSP)

Had a good week this week. 4 RBN and an actual official DLC track (Rock the Casbah).

I love Free Spirit. And Reaping Tide has such a strong "Neo-prog" sound to it, I flashed back to 2000 when I got into that genre. Cool stuff.
