I love you for making it realistic weeks. I really do.

Lots of cool stuff and you actually have a realistic amount of DLC each week. I wish your Bush pack had Swallowed instead of Little Things. Really wish we'd get those ELO, Oingo Boingo, They Might Be Giants, and Sex Pistols packs too. My one issue is do we REALLY need ANOTHER Megadeth album? They already have two.

    Green Day got three.

I was debating between Megadeth having a pack or album. Maybe a pack is a better idea.

Not a bad year. I feel there's far too much Alternative and Indie rock for my taste, but if you're making it realistic, it works. And keep the Megadeth album. There is no such thing as too much Megadeth.

This is great. Song choices that I could actually see happen.

December 11 or 18, you should have released a holiday-rock pack instead.

Nice to see many GH II songs returning. Still my fav music game songlist. And ya, Countdown to Extinction would be amazing

Yeah, but not all of Green Day's music sounds exactly the same.

How dare you accuse Megadeth of being bland or unoriginal? In all seriosity, though, Green Day was the band undeserving of 3. Megadeth, unlike Selloutica, has very different, mostly excellent albums that provide challenge to the game. Rust in Peace and Peace Sells were one of the greatest DLC choices Harmonix made, in my opinion. On every list of 'Greatest Guitar Songs' I see here on the forum, the whole Rust in Peace album usually makes it to #1. Megadeth is totally deserving of a third album, especially since Countdown to Extinction provides a radical change of tone to the previous albums. In fact, I would love a Megadeth band game, if only for the fact we already have 2 albums.

Edit: And Megadeth and Green Day aren't the only bands with multiple albums. Judas Priest had 2, off the top of my head.

Eh, not too many songs that I'd be begging HMX to take my money for, but then again, that didn't happen so far this year (DragonForce did, but still).

But it is realistic, and I appreciate that. I also like the Primus pack, Blinded by the Light, and Slayer finally getting a pack.

Every band deserves as much content as they're willing to provide.

Also, they were the highest-requested band(in Request a Song). I'd say that earns them something.

Never said Megadeth is bland or unoriginal, I just said their music doesn't vary that much. Unlike the 3 Green Day albums we have, which are all relatively different sounding; especially Dookie compared to American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.
Edit: And Megadeth and Green Day aren't the only bands with multiple albums. Judas Priest had 2, off the top of my head.
Hendrix and Pearl Jam have two. So does No Doubt, kind of.

I would say Countdown to Extinction and Endgame are as different from Rust in Peace and Peace Sells as American Idiot is to Dookie. Anyway, just my opinion on it. I think Megadeth is very much deserving of a 3rd album.

Listen to these four songs I think they're pretty different. (Oh and some songs/all songs may be NSFW)

I don't love all of this but the beauty of it is there is such a mix that I would be more than happy to take off some weeks and go crazy for others.

Stuff I would sell my shoes to buy:
MIA, Arctic Monkeys, Eric B and Rakim, The Strokes, the Sex Pistols, The Roots, Smashing Pumpkins, Airborne Toxic Event, OutKast, Interpol,LCD Sound System.

Others that I would buy on day one:
Bush, Garbage, Suicidal Tendencies, Wallflowers, Primus, Flock of Seaguls, Goo Goo Dolls, RATM, Sublime, Flaming Lips, Everclear, Elton John.

Yeah I would switch out Staind, Korn, or Megadeath for bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Joy Division, The Cure, or Sonic Youth, but I think this list hits a nice balance that would cater to everyone. Good work sir i vote for you as official DLC chooser for 2012.

    I'd buy on day one:

    Children of Bodom pack 01
    Agalloch - Falling Snow
    Slayer pack 01
    Megadeth Countdown to Extinction (album)

    I might get:

Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized (for GH nostalgia)
Iced Earth pack 01 (because I somewhat like a few of their songs)
    Blue

Decided to post exactly what I would buy.

    I would definitely buy...

    The Allman Brothers Band songs
    Children of Bodom pack
Burnin' for You by Blue Oyster Cult
    Brothers in Arms album
    Skid Row pack
21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson
    Steely Dan songs
    American Pie by Don McLean
    Born in the USA album
Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
    Mother by Danzig
    Slayer pack
    Bachman-Turner Overdrive songs
    The Sex Pistols pack
    Symphony X pack
    Countdown to Extinction album
Welcome to my Nightmare by Alice Cooper
    Cherry Pie by Warrant
    Ted Nugent songs
    Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group
Cult of Personality by The Living Colour
    Slow Ride by Foghat

So, it's actually quite a lot. Certainly more than the horrible year we've been having so far.

Mostly just small suggestions, Blinded By Light not getting pro? Why not? And there seems to not be any pro upgrades on your Elton John pack, maybe you did that on purpose because Elton isn't exactly known for his guitar and bass, but I feel he has parts worth learning like Billy Joel did.

I also think Suicidal Tendencies and Ted Nugent should have had packs instead of singles.

I would give this year a 9.5 out of 10 for good music quality, diversity, playability, and just overall awesomeness.

If they have to get a third album, it should be So Far, So Good... So What? (in my opinion, it's their best album, but Killing is My Business could work too.)

Countdown to Extinction is only just an above-average release, and marks Megadeth's downfall.

I agree, I would prefer more 80s stuff then Countdown to Extinction, which could be compared to Metallica's Black Album. While obviously not as bad and still retaining some metal, I still wasn't a huge fan of Megadeth's stuff in the 90s. Still, Symphony of Destruction would be fun to play and any Megadeth is better then nothing.
