Get Skillet's Whispers in the Dark. Now.

All we have is Monster, which is nothing more than a bleh ripoff of Animal I Have Become.

Is/was Skillet on Tooth & Nail? If so, they may have a chance. And unpopular opinion: I'd rather get some stuff from Alien Youth.

Holy crap, you got Skillet interested?!?

You must have a way with words, my friend.

I'd love to work with these artists. However, a band as big as Skillet should be handled by a bigger author than I. I still haven't released anything yet

Send some of those guys towards Chart Toppers. If you enjoyed "Creatures ov Deception," "Caraphernelia," "Expert Mode," "Battle of Egos Part I," and "Fuzzy Man (Fuzzy Nation)," then you'll know that those bands will be in good hands.

Yeah, I'm recommending them because I work with them. Our crew is awesome, though. Here's our YouTube channel to see some of our extra work.

FYI, just because the bands want in doesn't mean it will happen. We can hope though, I wouldn't mind some more Skillet.

Skillet?! please, please give us some of their older stuff... like "Open Wounds", "Forsaken" and "Invincible". I like "Monster" and "Hero" just fine... but older is sometimes better.

We have Monster already. But i like older Skillet as well. (Almost typed Seether for some odd reason..not even close to being the same band)

I know we have Monster, it was a specific example :-p

I'd really love to see more (especially older) Seether songs added too.

    ASPRon

    ThatAuthoringGroup

Wow, did someone associated with Skillet really come here and ask for authors?

    Mind = BLOWN!

Hopefully this means things to come.

Huh? The OP is pretty clear that they went to see them at a gig and spoke to them about RBN, not that they are associated with the band in any way.

No, go to the bottom of the previous page, to where BonJohndy posted. He clearly said that he wanted to get an author to do work with Skillet, and would get everything set up with them. Looks official to me.

Yes, but that's the OP and not someone associated with the band (beyond having contact with them). I'm not saying it's not a positive sign for Skillet maybe coming to RBN but it's not like the band themselves posted asking for authors.

Oh... didn't see the original post, sorry. Well, I did, but a few weeks ago, and had forgotten the OP's username. Sorry :(

Sorry LiveHomeVideo, I do not work for Skillet, but I just sent them an e-mail containing the authors ans authoring groups wanting to work with them.

In other news, for those of you who watched the video of me talking to Skillet about RBN, I found another video of this. It has better audio of the band's response and more visual of the band as well.

Skip to 4:17 on the video to here my question.

Is anybody going to WinterJam this year to see Skillet?
If you are, I would recommend getting a Jam Nation Membership.
Their is many benefits in doing this including having a Q&A with the bands.

Here is the site to see info about Winter Jam and Jam Nation Membership.

    http://www.hearitfirst.com/winterjam/faq.aspx

I would also like to ask if anybody is going to Winter Jam with a Jam Pass, and if Skillet is there at the Q&A, please ask them if they are they have looked up any thing about putting their songs on Rock Band Network, if they are still interested, or what is going on in this sort. Also if you do this please put what their response up on this forum. This would be very much appreciated.

I would do this myself, but I do not know if Skillet will be doing the Q&A for the concert(s) I will be at or if I can go. I also thought it could not hurt for more than one person to do this because it might give a better impression of people really wanting to have their songs on the game.

Also if you see the other artists their please tell them about RBN.

If you do this I would suggest giving them a piece paper looking similar to this

    Dear _______,

I’m a fan of both your music and of the popular music video game series Rock Band. Rock Band’s developer Harmonix has recently announced a new medium of which bands and labels can chart and sell their songs as downloadable Rock Band game tracks through the Rock Band Network.
For more information on the Rock Band Network, please visit the following sites:

    1. http://creators.rockband.com/
    2. http://tinyurl.com/mtv-to-launch
    3. http://tinyurl.com/press-release-rbn

I really hope you can benefit from this new opportunity. He can use Rock Band as a way to reach out to their fans as well as gain interest through creating playable tracks players can participate in and enjoy.

I am not associated with Harmonix, MTV, Rock Band, or Viacom. I am honestly just a fan of your music. I am also a frequent player of Rock Band. I just wanted to share the information regarding Rock Band Network in hopes you might have some interest in using it to promote his work. I would love to see one of my favorite artists reach thousands of eager Rock Band players.

    Thank you tremendously,

Also please reply your their responses as well.

Thank You and Rock on. (Winter Jam Style.)

Thank you, I did not realize how the letter was outdated until you pointed it out.

If anyone copies the letter I would recommend fixing the first sentence of the last paragraph.

Some more advice on how to spice up the email: 1. Tell them they'll make lots of money from. Don't explicitly state this, but heavily imply it (despite the fact that they probably won't).

    2. Insult their intelligence. This is especially effective with Math Rock bands, as they pride themselves on their intelligence.

    3. Ignore step two completely.

    4. Don't say ANYTHING about how much it might cost them in any way, shape, or form. This will be the biggest deterrent for any artist.

    5. Don't point them in the direction of an authoring group with the group's prior consent.

    6. Reference their lyrics in your email, but only deep cuts that you believe are personal favorites of the band, no big hits.

    7. You're not a robot, and statistically people don't like talking to robots, even if they only vaguely feel like they're talking to a robot, so try to not sound like a robot.

    8. Don't put too much in it or you will overwhelm them and they will not reply or even give it a second thought.

    9. Don't attach a picture of the following: a. How big of a fan you are, b. A lolcat (only exception is Bicycle Cat, and even that is hit or miss depending on the bands nationality), or c. Elvis Presley album covers (unless you know they are Elvis fans).

    10. Don't assume your email is being read by the band, as it most likely is being read by the manager or someone else loosely affiliated with the group.

That's as much as I can help on the subject.
