For those not in the know a group of authors have decided to do a once a month (final friday of every month) announcement thread. Highlighting new artists coming to the service, contests, video game play debuts, and who knows what else! So for the rest of the day this thread will be the home of the latest and greatest news concerning Rock Band Network! So keep checking back during the day because who knows what might be happening during the next 16 hours.

First up we're pleased to announce a band that will help bring a genre to the game that has been pretty neglected over the years. Sure there's been a few here and there, but overall there's not much representation from the genre.

I'm talking about Ska of course.

We're proud to bring Sunny Side up and their big horn ska music into Rock Band Network!

Starting with Welcome to the Skalocaust :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20ZlR_y7jyw&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL9B53E09B26B1E7FF

We'll also be bringing Corporate Control :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtL_Af3SBzQ&feature=related

and She's Rad :
http://www.youtube.com/user/SunnySideUpSka#p/u/3/EOqcLtf9C5o

We'll have more announcements during the day and other authors will be posting their news as well so stay tuned!

Hey guys, Kevin from ASP here.

Alt-Strum is happy to announce that we'll be bringing two tracks by Swedish trance metal act, Escape the Day.
The two songs we'll be bringing are a re-record of their first single "Turn Back Time", and a new track, "As We Were Once", off their upcoming EP.

Here's something a bit different we're going to do.

A lot of people have wondered and asked us "Have you ever worked on songs that for one reason or another didn't get released?"

Boy have we ever. For one reason or another some songs just get killed before ever seeing the light of day.

So with that I present to you the TAG Graveyard (kind of apt for a halloween weekend thread).

These are the songs that we worked on and at some point in their development they got nixed. So here's a look at what COULD have been. We won't get into details of why and how come, because it's not relevant. Again these songs have been 'killed' and WON'T be released.

Now most of these are VERY early and never got past the initial building process so they're going to be full of errors and ugly, but we figured you might like a look at what might have been.

First up is a song I was VERY sad to see fall apart. What's not to love about pirate/goblin metal?

    A Feast by Nekrogoblikon :

Are You the Killer by Ahimsa Sunrise :

Left For Dead by The Worshyp :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWBuo33nxfI

We'll have part two of the TAG graveyard up later today.

That won't be the only underutilized genre getting some love today. Though we're gonna have to wait 'til later today to announce it so I can make sure all the switch-flipping is done right.

In the meantime, we can start talking about one new project. Blues-Rock may not be an underutilized genre, but it's a nice one nonetheless.

    ----

Jeremy Manjorin started off like a lot of part-time musicians, constantly being pulled away by real life. He made the best of it, steadily putting away bits and pieces and letting his sound mature. A writer by trade, he couldn't help but write songs as well, with a hard-hitting country/blues/rock blend- the next stage of the all-American Jersey boy sound.

"Skinny Seventeen" has its share of country sounds- the steel pedal guitar, for example- but is pretty much a rock tune, a look at adolescence from the outside in. We'll be doing a little experiment with the track, putting that harmonica to good use and giving keys players something interesting to work with.

    Jeremy Manjorin - Skinny Seventeen
    http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/song_details/8419806

    ----

We'll have some videos a little later, for some songs already in playtest and some coming up very soon. And we'll have the big band I teased on Twitter- though I'll remind everyone, "big band" can mean a lot of different things... :)

    Hey guys,

It's Ozone here with an update on the shenanigans we have going on for the Rock Band Network.

As you know, Pac-Man Fever Set 2 is almost here. The remaining four tracks from Pac-Man Fever will be available next month, along with a bonus song "Found Me the Bomb" we did for our friends at GiantBomb.com. I'm pleased to let you know two of the songs are finished and passed (and if you're a jerk, you can grab a copy early). But if you're cool, you'll wait for all fives tracks to hit the store next month. To whet your appetite, here's Full Gameplay videos of "The Defender" and "Goin' Berzerk", showing the finalized tracks in their entirety.

    "The Defender": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWLJB67iuxE
    "Goin' Berzerk": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvyn4jS-jgI

But that's stuff you already know about. What has Ozone done for you lately? Well, you may remember we announced the insane "Console War" song by DRUOX a while ago, from the popular internet series "Sanity Not Included". Here's a video if you forgot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD-x8ot67zI.

Well, we thought what's better than one song from the "Sanity Not Included" soundtrack? How about releasing TWO! DRUOX worked with us to record a brand new version of his popular song "Ode to Stove" exclusively for the Rock Band Network. Why the new recording? Well, the original has quite a bit of cursing in it, and rather than butchering the original we just had him change those words to T for Teen - friendly ones. Want a taste? Here you go:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChnNUX0tHx8

"Console War" and "Ode to Stove" are coming your way after the release of Pac-Man Fever Set 2, and both are stupidly fun and will cost $0.99 each. Stay tuned for Full Gameplay videos of the rest of the Set and other surprises we have up our sleeves. What, I hope you didn't think I'd give away all my secrets. ;)

Saw the preview video a long while ago and I guess I assumed this meant it wasn't too far from release.

Hello RBN land, Z from TAG here to announce two songs coming from one of my personal favorite bands, Blessthefall!

The band's third full-length album "Awakening" has already been named by Alternative Press as one of 2011's Most Anticipated Albums. Trying to win over new fans while appeasing the old may be a difficult task for some bands, but blessthefall accept it eagerly as a challenge that they'll work toward with their forthcoming tours and releases. "There is a lot more drive since Beau has joined the band," Lambert said. "We know we have a lot to prove and we are all hungry for it."

    We're teaming up with fearless records to bring two tracks of their third album;

    Bottomfeeder

    and

    Promised Ones

Now, these have been waiting on fearless records to upload for the past almost 2 weeks, which is why this announcement was delayed, and I currently do not know the status of these on their end.

However, for the time being, enjoy!

    Hi Everyone,

We also have couple of songs to announce this time, one of them is for a band already in the RBN "The Asbestos" with the song "Lights, Camera and Action" and also a new band for those who are looking for songs in Spanish

I really like the Spanish song. Very catchy, even though my Spanish is mediocre at best.

And glad to see more Asbestos too.

I'll throw in a quick little reminder of the daily RBN recommendations thread over on the main forum. Obviously if you're here, you're curious about what RBN has coming up, but it doesn't hurt to check out what's already there. :) Especially since we're at 1,450 songs, officially, putting RBN just 350 songs behind Harmonix going by official numbers.

I think we'll do our big announcement around 3:30 Eastern, then throw down the other misc. videos towards the evening. (I'll throw in one more clue: while Ozone brags about Grammy winners, we have a Grammy and Emmy winner. So ha. :P )

    Hello Rock Band Fans,

New charting group SteveMightChart here to bring a band I'm sure many of you will learn to love very soon. Random Encounter is a video game inspired progressive rock band from Orlando, FL. We're going to be bringing 3 songs from them, including 1 rerecord that was made for a reprinting of their album. Unavenged is a song inspired by Russian Folklore, 72 Hours, which will be rerecorded, was inspired by the video game The Legend Of Zelda Majora's Mask, and finally we have Mother's Brain that was inspired by the Metroid video game series.

    Announcement number three from ASP.
We'll be partnering up with Angry Badger Records to bring both We Caught the Castle and Kodiak Jack to the RBN.

    We Caught the Castle

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MFWjMydfxA

We Caught The Castle are a five piece female fronted pop-punk/rock band from Reading. Forming in late 2009, the band have gone from strength to strength since their inception, sharing the stage with some big names in the current UK music scene including Attack! Attack!, Lower Than Atlantis and Don Broco to name but a few. With an upcoming release scheduled for late 2011, We Caught The Castle’s catchy melodies and multiple vocal onslaught are one to watch in 2012; you heard it here first.

"Hailing from Reading, female-fronted quintet We Caught the Castle release their self-titled debut EP. Immediately you should dispel any preconceptions that you may have formed; We Caught the Castle are far edgier than the likes of Hey Monday and more soulful than that Tennessee band (led by a certain fiery redhead) that everyone has suddenly become infatuated with. During their introductory three track opus, the British five-piece display impressive versatility, exhibiting a sound that fuses pop-punk and hardcore. We Caught the Castle may have only formed in 2009, but the band have matured impressively and clearly have a great future ahead of them. It would be a tragic shame if they ever get branded a Paramore-wannabe act, because We Caught the Castle are anything but." James Stant, Room 13 online magazine.

    Kodiak Jack

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXeYO2MAGFc

Ever the consumate live act, playing venues across the south and supporting upcoming acts like Specrum7, Everything Everything, New Device and Kobra and the Lotus and international artist Paul Gilbert (Mr Big and Racer X). The winning combination of a hernia-inducing rhythm section, screaming solos and some of the most dynamic vocals since Scott Weiland have given the band a fearsome local live reputation that is growing by the day.
