New DLC Week of 1/15/08

edited January 2008 in Announcements
I'm out of the office this week and next but I'll still be posting up the new DLC each week (sorry if I don't return PM's until I get back.)

This week at $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) we have-

"Action" made famous by Sweet (cover)

"Last Train to Clarksville" made famous by the Monkees (cover)

"All the Small Things" by Blink 182

Credits available here.

I feel ripped off. Guess we'll download "My Sharona" while we wait another week for better music.

I can understand the validity of The Monkees and them having "fun" songs, but there needs to be a seriously good track in with a fun track and a more or less obscure track with each week's pack.

and 2 of these are COVERS?!?!?!?! Who's on the negotiating team?

Why only 3 songs per week? Why aren't we getting a "variety" pack in addition to a single band's 3 song pack?

Come on Harmonix/MTV!!! Money is still green and it still spends. Don't you want your stock to rise on the market?

I'll have to take a listen to Action when I get to work, but the other two songs are great additions for parties with my friends!

    Thanks again HMX!

While I appreciate all the DLC we get, some of these "older" tracks are getting to be just that...old. I was hoping for some newer music. The Blink track is OK I guess, but there were better choices than that too. It would also be nice to have something like Killswitch, A Perfect Circle, Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, etc. Oh well...maybe next week.

I'm going to be very curious how people respond to the Monkee's DLC. This could be an interesting week. Still, more 60s material is a good thing, especially if it means continuing to push the game in new musical directions. I might snag this depending on the quality of the cover.

I've never heard the Sweet song, I'm looking forward to seeing the note chart.

I'm happy for the BLink 182 fans who finally get one of their songs. I'm hardly a fan, and I probably won't get this one, but still, why deny fans what they want?

Overall, not as strong a week for me as two weeks ago was, but so long as the DLC keeps flowing, I'm happy.

I won't be downloading anything this week.....

A fake band (Monkees) and a horrible excuse for a band (Blink 182). Where's the rock?

So many people out here loving on Blink, so I thought I'd throw some hate in. They are actually one of the bands I cringe when I think about being in the game. I'd rather see a P. Diddy song than anything by Blink, but for the fans that have been waiting: gratz d00dz!

Now if you will excuse me, I've got a ticket for the last train to Clarksville, and I don't know if I'm ever coming home.

P.S. - RELIABLE WEEKLY DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT IS THE GREATEST INVENTION SINCE EDISON'S PASSING!!!!!!

P.P.S. - Even when it massively sucks, like this week and Xmas week.

P.P.P.S. - Just kidding. Rock on, brothers & sisters!!!!!!!

lol I agree with you that Blink 182 is definately a "cup of tea" kinda deal where you either love them or hate them... not really very many people that have an in between.

While I'm disappointed that All The Small Things was chosen, it's still a great song and I'm happy that some Blink is in here.

I would much rather get multi platinum hits like Last Train to Clarksville then a bunch of crap songs from from a bunch of obscure groups like you listed

I guess it's fitting that we get the Monkees at some point. What's more apropos than playing fake instruments to a fake band's song?
Playing a fake version of a fake band's song with fake instruments, then, since this is a cover? ;)

Good selection this week. Two groups not already in the game, and music covering three very different musical styles. We'll be downloading all three of these.

I'll be honest, this wasn't a very exciting read at first. But then I youtube'd the songs I didn't know and they sound pretty good. I hope the covers of them are decent as usual.

I even youtube'd the song I do know (and dislike), and it seems like it will still be fun to play in the game just like all the songs I dislike. So I'll probably get Blink even if I'm not a fan at all.

I checked out the Sweet song on i-Tunes. I've never heard it before.

As for Last Train To Clarksville - YEA! (As long as it's a GOOD cover).

I'll be getting the Blink song as my oldest daughter will require it - lol.

I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping they'll come out with some System of a Down. Hopefully, a 3 pack with Hypnotize, Chop Suey & BYOB. I'd pay triple for that one! Shouldn't it be feasable condidering some of these songs have been released in karaoke format????

Just because Rock is a broad enough term to expand beyond your apparently narrow interests doesn't give you an excuse to make snotty remarks about the inclusion of tracks that were hugely popular at the time of their release, and still are to a good extent.

Frankly, no other video game community has had it nearly as good as ours, and yet all I ever see in these topics are baseless complaints. The DLC that has been released to date has covered a wide variety of genres, and it looks like it's only going to get wider. Instead of whining every week, how about you show some patience and WAIT YOUR DAMN TURN?

If the bands you want are any good, they'll be in Rock Band eventually. And if they aren't, Harmonix is doing you the favor of suggesting very good alternatives.

Funnily enough everytime one of my buddies tries vocalsn they have trouble choosing a song so I always say, well Say it Ain't So is pretty easy and they say "Oh I know that one," and start singing "Say it ain't so, I will not go..." So at least now I'll be able to say, well that's not actually that song, but funnily enough...

Thank you so much for the Blink! I would have preferred a few different songs over "All the Small Things" ("The Rock Show"... or pretty much anything off of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket), but any of their songs is a step in the right direction!:)

Different strokes for different folks. In my oppinion the Sweets song would be considered the "Fun" song of the week. IT sounds like it would be fun to play on Guitar.

To me song of the week is Last Train to Clarksville. I can't believe they are putting Monkees out. We really need more of this!

I'm glad there's some Blink 182 so everyone will stop asking for it. :) Though, I wish they would have picked one of the older faster Blink songs than this cheesy one.

Never thought I'd see a Monkees song on here! I'm really curious to see how this turns out. Wish it was a master though.
