gunner07's Rock Band 4 setlist, plus about a year's worth of DLC

gunner07gunner07 Opening Act
edited May 2012 in Your Ultimate Setlist
The main setlist I've come up with is 100 songs. I tried to keep my options slightly realistic, as far as taking stabs at what deeper cuts Harmonix might choose or what songs may not have usable masters. For the DLC, I went a little more nuts, leaning heavily on punk/goth/alternative music, which I feel is underrepresented in Rock Band. Onto the main setlist:

1960's (8 songs):
"21st Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson
"A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon & Garfunkel
“Conquistador” by Procol Harum
“Hush” by Deep Purple
"Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan
"Runaway" by Del Shannon
"Street Fighting Man (Live)" by The Rolling Stones
"White Room" by Cream

1970's (18 songs):
“Another Girl, Another Planet” by The Only Ones
“Astronomy” by Blue

This is a fantastic RB4 list, and the DLC would be extraordinary.
+1 internets for 'Girl' by Beck
+1 internets for 'The Real Me'
+9001 internets for that the Beck, Radiohead, Neil Young, The Who and ogod so many other things packs.
Too bad Harmonix doesn't listen to its customers unless licensing hand-outs or Rick Astley are involved.

Damn, this is a long list. Personally, I think lists over 85 or so songs are unrealistic, but it's whatevs. Your DLC weeks are a little big too compared to what we've gotten in the past, but again, just my opinion.

A few notes on the actual setlist:
-Lots of B-sides, but also lots of big hits to balance it out. Happens in every decade.

-You've got more 80s and 90s than you do 70s and 00s, which is pretty much the opposite of all the other Rock Band setlists. They tend to rely on modern music (00s) and classic rock (70s) for most of their hits.

-Only songs that really stuck out to me that I hate are Institutionalized and 21st Century Schizoid Man

-A few songs that stuck out that I really like are Hush, Like a Rolling Stone, Personality Crisis, Reelin in the Years, All For You, Follow You Down, Hunger Strike, Chelsea Dagger, and Dashboard.

-Personally, I think a better pick for The Cure would be "Why Can't I Be You?"

    Notes on DLC:
-I'm not sure how realistic of a pick P.I.L. is given Johnny Rotten's whole stance on the industry and whatnot

-I get that the whole Andrew WK pack is all party songs, but I still think it's weird to have a pack by him and NOT include I Get Wet or Get Ready to Die

-Lots of varied DLC, but not a lot of pop stuff which is a little unrealistic.

-I think a better pick for the Hole pack would have been Miss World.

-Razorblade or Under Cover of Darkness would have been good picks for The Strokes pack

    -Beck pack is really cool

-I'd rather see a Sex Pistols pack (or really any early punk band) before another Clash pack, and this is coming from someone that owns all of The Clash DLC. Also, no Police on My Back or Pressure Drop?

-Really liking the Muse pack and Misfits pack

-I really liked how the Neil Young pack is a big cross section of his career.

Glad to see the responses so far. To address some of the comments:

-The Who: sure, we've got a 12 pack, 3 disc songs, and two DLC singles, but still not enough! They're all fun songs, and we've barely even touched Quadrophenia! Really, Harmonix, just ONE song from the album so far and it's "Sea and Sand?" Glad others agree with my song choices!

-Beck is another artist I'm surprised we've seen so little of. After Rock Band 3 announced keys and harmonies, I practically spammed the Request a Song page with "Girl," and he's got a lot of other great songs that I still didn't include in the wishlist ("Timebomb," "Satan Gave Me a Taco")!

-I admit the DLC quantity is a bit overboard, especially these days.

-I'd say that a PiL pack is a bit more likely than a Sex Pistols pack. Lydon doesn't seem to mind use of his work in games, though the Guitar Hero re-records are the reason I didn't include any Sex Pistols (plus I wouldn't dare suggest a pack without "God Save the Queen," and who knows if there's at least a usable live recording of that off the recent tour?).

-Fair picks on a lot of the other suggestions for songs. Some of them were considered, but replaced by others on my list, while others I hadn't even thought of.

-The Numan pack is all live because I'm not too crazy about alt. charting on guitar. While it might be a bit blasphemous, I feel like Gary Numan's live band's performances would suit the game better. Not that I would be disappointed if Harmonix decided to put out Tubeway Army/Gary Numan DLC using the original recordings, though!

Is it a problem that I knew almost none of the DLC? Could have used a Rush pack with more of the Prog hits like La Villa and Xanadu. Did enjoy seeing Peter Gabriel and Images and Words getting in there though

Can't go wrong with earlier progressive Rush, though for this list I decided to dig a little deeper and pick singles from later on in their career, seeing as how all we have from after Moving Pictures is "Subdivisions" and "Caravan." Any Rush is good Rush, though!

Also, if you're into Peter Gabriel, I highly recommend checking out some of the Kate Bush songs I suggested, if you aren't already familiar with her. They've collaborated a number of times, and they tread similar musical territory.

i'd buy the Smiths and the Cure in an instant, but the Andrew WK is lacking Ready to Die.

Well, finally I can check off some songs from my wishlist with a third of my Slayer picks making their way over as DLC next week!

The setlist isn't bad, but it isn't amazing either. It does have "Speechless", so it's an insta-buy, but I just feel like there could've been more. A lot of it just didn't really strike me as awesome.

The DLC is less exciting. There are some gems in there, but a lot of it just isn't interesting either. It's not bad, it just doesn't appeal to me. Song choices in a lot of this list was the thing that was just weird to me I guess.

The simple fact that "Pretty Handsome Awkward" is in the On-Disc soundtrack would've made this game an instant buy for me. I'm digging the Panic! at the Disco and My Chemical Romance DLC as well.

Glad to hear! I was disappointed with the first Used pack not having anything from Lies, as well as most of the PatD songs being from Pretty. Odd. Actually, in one of my earlier drafts I had Fever for full album DLC, but Harmonix released "I Write Sins" before I finished this list. I cut it down to highlights from the album, since I highly doubt they'd pull a London Calling-type situation with a fairly recent pop album (not that we can't dream...).

Fair enough, I'll admit the song list's definitely not for everyone. I tried to go a little bit more for playability versus popularity, though an effort to find a happy medium was made for the on-disc list.
