SirDavidTLynch;4696090 said:I saw nothing in the article that said there will never be a Rock Band 4.
Meat-Popsicle;4696145 said:Already the forthcoming XBLA title "Rock Band: Blitz" has taken over the design of the site. That's the future of Rock Band, the keystone of the franchise: a downloadable mini-game.

Meat-Popsicle;4696070 said:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1222273p1.htmlAnother thing this article makes clear something that everyone else has known for a long time, but the people here in the echo-chamber just won't acknowledge: there is no WAY we are ever going to get a Rock Band 4. The genre isn't just down from it's heyday, it is permanently DEAD.
Meat-Popsicle;4696145 said:Read between the lines: the genre is OVER and it will never again be profitable to pump millions of dollars into a full-scale Rock Band game. The only people who expect there to be RB4 (or even RB3.5) are those that desperately hope that it will happen, a few thousand passionate niche gamers. The rest of the gaming world doesn't even ask the question, because the answer is so clearly, "of course not!". Look at the front page! Already the forthcoming XBLA title "Rock Band: Blitz" has taken over the design of the site. That's the future of Rock Band, the keystone of the franchise: a downloadable mini-game.

GNFfhqwhgads;4696862 said:The 25 song argument isn't that compelling. Or the 'whole game' one, since this isn't a whole game. It's largely a shell and an algorithm. Yes, work was put into it, but nothing on the scale of a disc title. Also, 25 songs injected into the last while of DLC wouldn't change much. They have lower output than before predominantly because less people are working on the series and 3 songs is a sweet-spot between maximizing how long you can spread $X of licensed content over and what sees fairly consistent sales(paradox of choice and maybes made nos because 'what if something better comes out next week'). They can't put out 10 songs a week if all of Harmonix isn't working on Rock Band like they were in 2009, and they don't WANT to put out 10 songs a week if people are less likely to spring on 'maybe' songs because of an overload of content.
