Since walden always criticized the consumist style of life, and video games are somehow all the opposite, I guess that next week artist don't want to be popular or mainstream, but they, somehow, are. The first names that come to mind are Radiohead, Pearl Jam (both never wanted to be mainstream but are really popular) and Rise Against (vegans, and against society). Rage Against The Machine are another good candidate.
