Yay! Foster the People! Happy to see "Don't Stop (Color On The Walls)"! But while I'll still buy "Helena Beat", I'd rather have seen "Houdini", or maybe "I Would Do Anything For You".

And I'll get the Strokes' song immediately as well.

Suprised that it wasn't Pumped Up Kicks, but since I already have that song I'm happy. Another good all around week.

    Because it's coming to Blitz...

Anyways this is definitely the best summer DLC for me. Thank you so much Harmonix!

    Hey, The Strokes!

They've never been DLC. The only song of theirs in the game is "Reptilia" and that was released on RB1!

I don't know the song, but it's certainly neat to see a band that has never had songs released as DLC get released as DLC.

First time I've heard of Foster the People. Wow, embarrassingly bad. I would feel like such a ****ing moron singing that song and I'll happily sing all the embarrassing songs.

Finally a week where i'm super excited to buy all the songs. I love 'Helena Beat' and at least like 'Don't Stop,' but it's about time we got another Strokes song and I personally really like the one they picked.

Nothing for me this week, but I'd love if this starts a mini-trend of getting singles from Blitz bands. Would love to get some additional singles from the likes of Great White, Quiet Riot and Collective Soul in the upcoming weeks.

Sorry, those bands are not modern enough for the current DLC strategy. If we see one song from any of those bands the rest of the year, I will be shocked. :(

Yeah I realized my mistake. I'm not exactly following blitz news. I honestly couldn't tell you a single song that is on Blitz.

Hey, not bad. I imagine I'll get that Strokes song at some point. And one of the Foster the People songs sounds pretty good in a 30 second sound bite.

I'm mostly thrilled about getting the last song from Dance for the Dying for PS3, I may have to come home from work early on Tuesday to be one of the first on the platform to play it!

Thank you HMX for your continued support of RB!

Had to youtube all three songs and this is a great week....to rummage through the RBN catalog searching for some hidden gems.

I just realized: this will be the first singles week in, like, forever, that I buy every single song. Wow.

Absolutely fantastic week, HMX. Keep it up!

I was surprised by how much I liked "Pumped Up Kicks" when I first heard it, so these other two are definitely worth giving a shot. And The Strokes...man, what a long absence. I wonder if Garbage will ever come back if we're talking RB1-era stuff.

Even though it's not classic rock, this week definitely was a change of pace from the bro-rock and pop-songs, so I think it's pretty good.

You know what this stuff is? Product. Which is just about the only thing coming out of DLC anymore, suggesting that pure commercialism is the sole thought process left behind Rock Band. HMX has the right to sacrifice everything on the altar of commodification, but it sure makes for a less interesting game.

Whatever, talk amongst yourselves. I'm too weary of it all to even remain in the conversation.

It's freaky though, because for the first time since the Men at Work/Santana week, my DLC prediction has actually been correct. Band-wise, at least.

Sure! No, for me the main interest is the track pack, and since its still a month or something away I'm not going to worry about whats on the track pack until it's much closer.

You mean a company wants to make money? How is that even possible?!?

Sorry for coming off as jerkish, but seriously, I don't see how that's any different than it's been since the start. When we got the big classics like Journey and Boston, I'm pretty sure somewhere money was involved. People want things, and HMX will give people those things. Simple as that.

Alright, super hyped about the first impressions this week! Dunno why, but I'm PUMPED! LET'S DO THIS HARMONIX! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Mixed Singles First Impressions

Alright, we'll start off with some Helena Beats! Oh man, I am the punniest.
Drum pattern starts off alright, no qualms with it yet. It is pretty repetitive, but it's not boring enough to dislike yet. The guitar is pretty interesting and the keys work well. The vocals are actually pretty sweet, and they work really well with the keys. And that guitar is doing this weird spazzy thing which is awesome. Harmonies work well, and I'm totally digging the grooves of the song. It's not great, but I'm digging all of its components. It is missing some pizzazz, but overall I'm enjoying the softness of the song with its interesting little quirks like guitar spazzes and strong keys. Huh. The song is starting and going and then introduces some really snazzy bass followed by some INSANE keys! AND THEN INSTRUMENT BREAK AND THAT SOUNDED GREAT! Great job! Totally feeling the grooves and I can say I enjoyed it. Might not buy it Day 1, but it'll be on my "To listen to later" list.

Up next is Under Cover of Darkness!
I know The Strokes are heavily requested, but I didn't really love the song we already have, so let's see if this changes my mind! The guitar is... equally brilliant and awful. At least in the intro. Then the vocals come in and the guitar gets really catchy really fast. Totally brilliant Pro Guitar choice. It's just so damn catchy. The drums complement it well, and the vocals aren't TOO awful, but they do leave something to be desired. Everything works well together and I'm loving the sounds. The song doesn't deviate much from the catchiness of it all, but I don't feel that it has to that much. What's there works well and doesn't wear out its welcome. Oh snap! Guitar solo! And it sounds fantastic! Totally feeling the grooves. Will buy.

Last song of the night is Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)!
Has a kind of amusing name. Tee hee.
Starts off with some boring guitar and quirky... something. OH SNAP! I KNOW THIS SONG! I think I do. It sounds EXTREMELY FAMILIAR, THE VOCALS, THE GUITAR, THE EVERYTHING! Nah, I've definitely heard this song before. Didn't know it by name or by artist, but I've definitely heard it before. And I... dig it! The song is quirky and enjoyable with a nice variety to it and some really interesting key portion to get me hooked. The vocals add to the zaniness of the song, and the whole feel of it is enjoyable. Totally feeling the grooves, which makes my wallet kinda sad :p
I wonder if all 3 FTP songs we're getting are in the same album. For album sorting! That would be cool, btu I highly doubt it. And the outro just goes ballistic and it was great. Great job, Foster the People!

This week overall... was FANTASTIC! I greatly enjoyed every song and definitely looking forward to getting them as soon as I spend some MSP on other Rock Band songs that have priority. Every song had its charm to it, and had something interesting to keep it not only afloat, but engaging. Nice atmosphere and feel to every song, will buy.

In the grand scheme of things, this week definitely tops the Cinderella week and is on par with last week's singles week (which pretty much only consisted of Love Shack for me).

This week in terms of songs:
    Under Cover of Darkness
Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)
    Helena Beat

    Blue is MUST buy
    Green is will buy eventually
Yellow is will probably buy/high chance of enjoying it later
Orange is will listen to later to see if my opinion has changed
Red is probably not going to bother ever again.

3 songs I've never heard. And the two bands I only know through Rock Band.
Listened to them, and while all three sounded decent, only one grabbed me enough to want to buy it - "Don't Stop". If the others were part of a large pack with other stuff I liked, I would enjoy playing them, but not enough to enjoy the singles.

RBN was fantastic again - Picked up everything but the (x2 Bass pedal) songs and "The Duel".

"Walk of Shame" is one of the best singles I've heard in quite a while. Great stuff.

Anyone remember when we got like 4 weeks of 70s songs in a row when Rock Band 3 came out and people complained about all the old music? It's funny how dumb they were.

Dude, enough already. The game's been a product from day one and saying it's only "commercialism" when it's music you aren't interested in is superemely arrogant. There's all sorts of stuff I would like in the game that we haven't seen, but it is a fact that both of these bands have been asked for repeatedly by RB players...especially The Strokes, who have been missing in action since the RB1-era.
