RBN Community Spotlight : September 2012

Hey gang!

It's time for another community spotlight thread!

Now as most of you know we only 'announce' songs that we have working playable builds now. That helps to cut down on the wait time between announcement and the songs being available to purchase.

Also with school starting up last month, Blitz being released, and just life in general, we didn't get as much work done as we have in the past (we'll just blame it on Blitz :P ), so we don't have as many new builds to show off today.

However that just means that next month we should have a huge pile of them ;)

Secondly I'm going to be away from the house for most of the morning, so I'm going to be announcing songs every ten to fifteen minutes to get through the ten or so we have to show off before I have to leave. But don't worry as I'm sure the other authors will be here during the day to make their announcements.

Enough blabbering!

On with the show :D

First up is a song that some of our more eagle eyed (and by eagle eyed I mean you were conscious and able to read) have already spotted, but today we're 'officially' announcing it.

If you've seen the Literal Trailers on youtube, or are a fan of Minecraft then there's a pretty good possibility that you're already familiar with the song.

I only have one question? Do you like my sword?

It's a nice little song, but it's way too short to be worthy of a purchase in my eyes.
A bit wasted potential because everything about it works, but it just breezes by so quickly.

Ehhhhhh. It's way better than the other Cynic song we have, but I still wouldn't put it anywhere near decent.
The clean vocals are really awful, and having them be in harmony with the screams flat out doesn't work at all. I don't feel any synergy between the guitar and bass, which makes them feel like they have nothing to do with anything. It gets a bit better in the solos, but I still don't think it's good.

A definite skip, but a very small step in the right direction for them.

    Oh yeah. So awesome.

I hope that there will be more Cynic after this (and King of those who knows). Traced In Air is the best album of 2008, and one of the best albums of 00s.

Double your Cynic, double your fun!

This one is EARLY (it was just built yesterday early), so you'll notice some animations missing and what not, but we figured you'd all want a look at the third (in this batch) Cynic track.

Here's our last announcement for the day (Told you I was going to finish this up fast and get out of the way for the other authors).

This one is from my favorite (by far) of the Harmonix bands.

The band that just consistently pumps out tune after kick ass tune, and this is one of their better ones!

This is Hidden Secret Song from Anarchy Club!

Now I can't wait to see what the rest of the authors are going to announce, and we'll see you on the forums!

I'm sad to see the Arabic in the chorus gone, though I knew it would happen. :( But super excited for this nonetheless.

No videos from us this month, mostly because real life is being... a bit of a pain, we'll just say.

Nonetheless, I did indicate in the Christmas song thread that we'd make mention of a Christmas song. And the Christmas Song we're doing is "The Christmas Song". We're being fairly direct with the nomenclature here, I suppose. That, and I just want the phrase "Christmas song" to not mean anything through sheer saturation. Christmas song. Christmas song. Christmas song.

And that's not the only John Brandon track we're working on! There's even more Those Among Us on tap, this time the full-on rock song "Final Destination". With a strong guitar solo and drums that are seriously kinda hard to comprehend a bit.

Nope, just a Christmas song called "The Christmas Song". Well, "The Christmas Song (Live)" since it is that live take.
