There are some songs that are just too goshdarn happy to not enjoy while listening. I made a Spotify playlist of some super happy songs (http://open.spotify.com/user/1243221895/playlist/2qlhvNuwxP7voP8cxayOBL), but I feel there's just not enough happy in this playlist. What are some great happy songs I've forgotten?

PONPONPON. It's practically the definition of Disgustingly Happy.

Maybe copypaste the list here? Not all countries are allowed to sign up for Spotify.

"Light and Day" by The Polyphonic Spree immediately sprung to mind, though I have no idea if it's already on your list.

    Nice.

The censored song titles make me think you need to add Jonathan Coulton - First of May.

Gangnam style is condescending, not happy. Truly disgustingly happy songs would have nary a shred of negativity of any kind.

Although if you want some disgustingly happy songs from Asia, there's always PONPONPON as I posted earlier.

But yes, we need more non-English songs in this list. So far the only ones are Limon y Sal (Spanish), PONPONPON (Japanese), and Cliffs of Dover and Fun Zone are instrumental (I'm not counting Gangnam Style. That is not disgustingly happy)
  • Ohhh I can help you with this one:

    Spanish:

    "Bidi bidi bom bom"-Selena
    "Mi primer millon"-Bacilos

    Portuguese:
    "Balada (Tchê Tchê Rere)"-Gusttavo Lima
    "Já Sei Namorar"-Tribalistas

    English:
    "Pocketful of Sunshine"-Natasha Bedingfield

...Just to name a few. And in all honesty, I actually like these songs.

Going with Race for the Prize by The Flaming Lips.
That song is happiness distilled down to it's most pure form.
  • That song is a good shout! I haven't listened to it in long time.

I don't know that I would call these "disgustingly" happy, but I suppose these are among my favorite songs intended to make people smile, while the more cynical might instead be tempted to cut their heart out with a spoon:

Katrina and the Waves - "Walking on Sunshine"
James Taylor - "Your Smiling Face"
The Carpenters - "Close to You"
Peter, Paul and Mary - "The Marvelous Toy"
Kool and the Gang - "Celebration"
    Bobby Bloom - "Montego Bay"
Lionel Richie - "All Night Long"
    The Archies - "Sugar"
Olivia Newton-John with John Travolta - "You're the One That I Want"
The New Seekers - "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" (the Coca-Cola song)
    The Beach Boys - "Kokomo"
Amii Stewart - "Knock on Wood"
Bobby McFerrin - "Don't Worry, Be Happy"
The Manhattan Transfer - "The Boy from New York City"
Wang Chung - "Everybody Have Fun Tonight"
Billy Joel - "The Longest Time"
    Orleans - "Still the One"
Louis Armstrong - "What a Wonderful World"
Neil Diamond - "Song Sung Blue"
    The Temptations - "My Girl"
Johnny Nash - "I Can See Clearly Now"
B.J. Thomas - "Hooked on a Feeling" (even more "disgustingly" happy is the cover by Blue Suede)
Rick Astley - "Never Gonna Give You Up"

    ...and finally...

Pinkie Pie and the Ponies - "Smile, Smile, Smile"

Oh, and for the non-English crowd, pretty much the entire Schnuffel catalog, but especially "Kuschel Song" (aka "Snuggle Song"), "Haschenparty" (aka "Bunny Party") and "Ich hab' Dich lieb".
