Harmonix needs Playtesters!

So we do a lot of playtesting here at Harmonix. And from time to time we need to refresh our database of willing playtesters here in Boston, Massachusetts (USA).

A few things.

1. Only sign up if you're within an hour's drive of Cambridge, MA. I loved the guys from Poland who signed up, but it just isn't in the cards.

2. Our games are mostly T for Teen, so please get parental permission if that isn't you.

3. We do not use this information for anything other than playtesting purposes.

4. We don't have enough tests to use everyone that signs up. Good luck!

http://www.harmonixmusic.com/playtest/

We especially need players who have never played our game before. So if you have neighbors / parents / bosses who have never picked up a plastic instrument before, please send 'em our way.

Any questions? Either post to this thread, or e-mail Chris at canfield@harmonixmusic.com

Thanks!

Chris can fill you in on the details when he gets a chance, but it's mostly a "hey can you come play some game we're working on for a few hours? We'll give you pizza!" kinda deal. This is not a job opportunity.

If you need your games tested to military specs.. send 'em up here to Canada.. I'll play the prototype Rockband bagpipes nude in a snowbank! I draw the line at the accordian though, I don't want to pinch anything.

I live about an hour and a half to two. Too far?

And is this strictly a volunteer thing with nothing for payment but the joy of playing a new Harmonix game?

I'm not close enough but thought I'd ask anyway....

    What kind of pizza?

This isn't the same as a tester tester is it? Cause if it is people should really know what they'd be getting into there.

I've signed up for this before with no luck.

I'll give it another shot. I'm about 30 minutes south of the studios.

I live in kentucky and have real drumming experience and would love to help with testing out the drum aspect of the the game.

Should come up with some kind of PC app that testers could use by plugging in through USB to test without having to be at the location. Just a barebone app, nothing pretty at all, just simple note scrolling and test kind of thing.

I am wanting to get in the industry and love both aspects between music and software. Would be a nice way to start.

I think the whole point is to be playtest an actual game itself, not some PC app.

And for the older, can we head up the street to People's Republik after a hard day of rocking out?

Awesome to hear about some actual advantage to living in Boston to make up for all the blizzards!

I was talking about a simple program that would just play the note chart for you to play it and test the fun of it, difficulty, how close it is to the real song, ect....

Whatever it was, I was sad that I had dinner beforehand because I seriously just wanted to eat a whole box after 2 slices. Harmonix gets their pizza from some amazing place.
