Hey gang,

For all of the lovers out there this Valentine’s Day, Harmonix presents a collection of music’s greatest rock and pop ballads, coming to the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Extreme’s acoustic classic, “More Than Words” – off 1990’s Extreme II: Pornograffiti – was a departure from the band’s funky rock sound, but managed to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100! As a bonus, every “More Than Words” download will include a Pro Guitar upgrade!

Originally recorded by The Everly Brothers in the 1960s, Nazareth made “Love Hurts” a huge hit in the late ‘70s, making it an international hit for the Scottish rockers. This 2009 re-recording of the track by the band brings all the feeling and energy of the original to Rock Band!

Peter Cetera’s Billboard Hot 100 number one hit “Glory of Love,” from 1986’s Solitude/Solitaire, also earned the singer/songwriter a nomination for an Academy Award for “Best Original Song” as it appeared in the film The Karate Kid, Part II!

Among REO Speedwagon’s thirteen Top 40 hits, the classic rock power ballad “Keep On Loving You” may be their most memorable, peaking at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100!

Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love,” from the English pop duo’s 1981 debut, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, will also be available on the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (February 12th, 2013):

• Extreme – “More Than Words” X

• Nazareth – “Love Hurts”

• Peter Cetera – “Glory of Love” O

• REO Speedwagon – “Keep On Loving You” O

• Soft Cell – “Tainted Love” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system February 13th)

Price:

$1.99 USD, £1.19 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; the track marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar track for no additional cost.

** Dates and Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

To discuss this DLC please visit the official discussion thread in the Rock Band forum.

Instant purchase, all of it. You guys never cease to amaze me with your Valentine's Day releases. Ever since the Chicago pack, I was hoping for Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love". The rest is yummy icing on the cake!

The "extra" treat is less about what the song is and more about what we did with the upgrade.
pro upgrade bundled free with the song.
    hmxhenry said:

But it's partially tied to what the song is, or rather... what the song isn't.
the song isn't a song with a bass part, or drums part... like Landslide. so the pro upgrade will only have a pro guitar chart, but no pro bass chart.

    my prediction:

Kansas - Dust in the Wind (X)

i don't know what the other singles are.

    [/quote]

    i was SO CLOSE!

i got the free included pro upgrade right. i got the guitar-only, no bass or drums part right. i just got the wrong song (dust in the wind would have been better, but this is a good one too).

anyway... i wish this was a pack. i would've bought the pack, but i'll buy them all as singles anyway. great choices.

    I loooooooooooove cheesy pop ballads.

"Glory of Love", "Keep On Loving You", freaking "More Than Words"!!!

"Tainted Love"....not really my thing, but glad to have it on the platform.

Only song I'm not familiar with is the Nazareth cover, but I'll give it a listen.

Valentine's Day is usually my favorite DLC week of the year, and HMX did it again. Thanks, guys!

Best week in forever. Five awesome songs that I'll be sure to pick up, four of which I've been wanting forever, and three of which have been my favorite song at some time or other. So absolutely happy. Thank you, Harmonix.

Just calling this out since it's 1) awesome and 2) kind of unusual: the Pro upgrade is bundled with the Extreme track for FREE. When charting out the song and looking at the instrumentation available (it's not a full band, only vocals and guitar I believe) we thought it'd be a nice bonus to include the Pro upgrade to add a bit of additional value to the track. Hope you guys dig it.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the livestream next Monday where we'll be singing these sultry tunes for you during the chart preview.

Wow, two Billboard #1s and an Academy Award nominee. Very not bad. Would any song on here have been on my personal list of must haves? Nah. Will I buy all 5? Probably. Will they be perfect for Valentine's Day? You betcha.

    This is, indeed, awesome! Thanks!

Pardon me for repeating myself, but by the time I edited my original post the stampede had already started. So just in case: May we get the length on "Tainted Love"? That will give an idea of which of the umpteen versions of the song will be in the game.

Just give it some time. It took a bit of time for the trailer to start playing for me. Sadly, as expected, the Nazareth re-record sounds quite poor just as "Hair of the Dog" did. Still, the fact that the band was willing to re-record the song so that the masters could be used for this game is admirable. As a result of that, I will indeed be buying it. It's kind of sad, really, that their lead singer has lost his ability to sing as he did back then, but the lifestyles of rockers from the 1970's generally leads to that.

This is great! The DLC quality has definitely been increasing with bi-weekly releases.

I only knew Tainted Love of the top of my head. Headed over to YouTube and had two "Oh THAT song!" moments with More Than Words and Love Hurts.

I didn't care for Keep On Loving You or Glory of Love.

    3/5. This is great, HMX!!

My "No extra charge for pro upgrade" prediction was right. Yay.

HMXHenry, can get get a track time on "Tainted Love"? There's, like, 67 different versions of that song floating around, some of which include "Where Did Our Love Go" at the end. Are we talking somewhere close to the 2:30 original version, the 4:00 radio edit, or the 8-minute shebang that had everything?
I'll reach out to the Audio Team today, but the office is closed due to a storm warning so it may be harder than usual to reach people at home. The 8:58 extended dance cut seems VERY unlikely, and since both the album and single cut clock in around 2:34 - 2:41 that seems like the most reasonable assumption. I'll follow up when I hear back, possibly by Monday at the absolute latest.

These are all good songs. Nice.

    It's unfortunate that they aren't a pack.

So the thing about releasing content from multiple bands on multiple labels is that they don't always want to play nice. The difficulty in licensing and bundling increases with every additional artist you add, which is why, historically, we've released very few mixed artist / label packs.

This is a very nice treat for the Pro guys. And helps "beef up" a track that might have never been released (due to lack of other parts). Great job.

Please keep this in mind...if this is the only way to make "Dust In The Wind" someday in the far future...
