We have been promoted! Nice job, we've achieved our first milestone. Big shoutout to Silver for rallying a ton of points. You know I give you the mad, fat, super fly, stupid, dope, dumbass, ********, bombsh** Props! Crazy, let's get that much better this week. Way to rule the XP!

Rock on WDRN!

  • Eventually I figured out that grinding rules the day. I don't have to be awesome, just willing to play a lot of Rock Band. Sold!

Well, grinding rules half of the day. The other half of your score is based on the top performances by crew members on the Spotlight Songs. 4 instruments, 3 songs, so 12 individual scores to get accumulated. Once @Lawdog1521 gets internet access back, surely our vocal scores will improve [NO PRESSURE DUDE]. Adding @BachiG as our drumming specialist, just on the very last day [he had quit Rock Band and converted his drumming room into a yarn storage area earlier this week], that made a notable difference in our Spotlight Score. In fact, he was racking up so much XP, I was starting to get concerned that he would pass me!

There's bonus XP given out for the 1st and 2nd time playing each Weekly Challenge Song (including the Spotlight songs), on each instrument. And the XP you earn is based on the difficulty level you're playing at, and also the number of stars you get. So, I own a bunch of songs [I maybe have gone a bit overboard], that means I can earn the most XP, right? Well, in theory, someone could own just a few songs that meet the Weekly Challenge criteria [week 1: "LOVE"] but just play those few songs over and over and over again.

So having a lot of songs just makes it a lot less boring to pump out the XP. And you're sure to get that "1st play through" bonus, if no one else owns a particular song. In fact, you can get it 4x, if you play each once on every instrument.

Was this all obvious to everyone else, right from the start?

Well, I played a bunch of songs on guitar last night, just to bump up our crew XP as much as possible before midnight. Practice helps! I'm mostly been playing Bass this year, but this week I've tackled everything, and my Guitar playing is probably about as good as it's ever been.

AND YET my guitar rating dropped a bit yesterday. Bummer! Does getting 3 stars on Hard drag down your rating, is it better to get 5 stars on Medium? More research needed.

Songs that have been stuck in my head this week:

"This I Love" (Guns N' Roses). I bought the whole "Chinese Democracy" album just a few months ago, and I've only played maybe 1/3 of the songs? I don't love this song, but I don't hate it, and it's proven to be strangely catchy.

"Friday I'm In Love" - I liked this song, I STILL like this song, but I don't need to hear it again for about the next year, OK?

"I Want to Know What Love Is" - were Keys mapped to Guitar? Or was it always charted this way? It's both epic and cheesy and it's a song that shouldn't be played more than once a year.

This I Love Has really grown on me too. This week I learned to play it on piano and bass guitar.

I really enjoyed the brief few hours I got to play Rivals last night. It takes a LOT of time to convert a drum room to yarn storage and BACK again in one week, but it was well worth it. It sucks that we have to wait a full day for the next challenge. It should turn over at midnight the day the previous weekly challenge ends.

Anyway, great job on week one. Meat reeeeaallly pulled a lot of the weight this week, so definitely mad props to him. Hoping we can get some really good participation this week from everyone. I have a sneaking suspicion that moving up in brackets each week is going to get progressively and then exponentially harder.
  • I'll be more of a force to be trolling with.
  • SO MANY TAUNTS

I'm really amazed how many times my guitar score would end up within a few hundred of @daxx1970 (when we tried on the same difficulty setting). We are very well matched.

That's how I felt all last week. @Meat-Popsicle called me every name in the book and really gave me a hard time about my personal hygiene...or lack there of.

I heard you pulled all weight for the other clowns on WAYDRN and I had 65,000 xp just by myself so I'm thinking meat/daxx supergroup.

Oh and we were 8th overall in xp and only received a silver "participation" badge so kind of a bummer for the effort.

Tim for everyone else to pull their weight.

    Tim never pulls his weight.

How much xp did meat earn? If it was near my personal haul of 64,825, our crew will definitely be re-recruiting him (we asked him first but we had to let him spread his wings and fly, its just a shame he landed on a turd crew). Rockband Roadies Rule!!!

And if you think the addition of a clown who drums from an old yarn repository can stop us, you're sadly mistaken...damn that clown can drum though on second thought...nope, still mistaken.
  • Is our new currency Tims?

Ugh, I got summoned in here and didn't see it wasn't even WAYDRN. I used my "A game" taunts on you 7?

And @Meat-Popsicle you are always the main target of my taunts...everyone else is simply collateral damage, except Rex that is the only exception.

When I return I will be bukaking points all over our opponants faces.

Don't just sing it, bring it...oh actually I guess that's redundant considering the area in which I'll be personally schooling you.

All of us know this whole "no Internet" thing is an excuse to shield yourself from the impending spankfest.

i came in 5th place in points contributed. indeed, @daxx1970 must have been playing in his freakin' sleep. i just played every song once, a few twice, then he got on me for sneaking out to RB3 for online. it's a rough life

How'd @daxx1970 get on the crew he's on anyway? I'm guessing they needed somebody to serve as motivation, so they recruited him as the "anchor"...You know, the deadweight that gets everyone else to pull harder. It's obviously working well... @gaiacat really knows how to work the psychological aspect!

She's also smart for having recruited @calloy to serve as their teams actual drummer and as the player to help offset Daxx's negative contribution.
  • daxx1970daxx1970 110% Awesome
Well, we had a member leave and @gaiacat sent you an invite earlier today but you'd already left your knitting room and joined these chumps. We indeed do enjoy @calloy on the drums and we both look forward to the weekly whoppings we'll be doling out.

My crew may not win, but one of our members gets to announce the winners each week.

Yeah, she told me she wanted to replace both of you with me to open up a few slots for good players. but I already committed to my fellow WayDRNers, so I'm in for "life"!

"Life" meaning as long as they at least keep up the illusion that they're trying, then I'm jumping ship! Or if LDs internet isn't working by 2017.
  • BachiGBachiG Inconceivable...
Oops... she also told me to keep that on the downlow. Y'all should probably protest by walking out on them.
  • BachiGBachiG Inconceivable...
Also, after reading LD's post, I think I know why his internet is broken.

If @TubaDude49 is Fens Fold Five (I refuse to add Jaguar, it ruins the whole vibe and if you have to dumb it down for people like @BachiG to get it, it ain't worth it) then they are indeed awesome and worthy of praise...unlike the owners of this thread and so called associated musicians.

That's me! Team leader of a way better team than I hoped for. I didn't even plan ahead. Saw Freen's name on the list at midnight, Josh asked to join in the morning, and everyone else followed suit.
  • Crimson stars on drums? Clearly @BachiG is over qualified for this crew.

Haha! ...I like the challenge of playing songs in Brutal mode on drums so long as the song isn't overly difficult (read extremely fast or has a bunch of whack fills)... I got pissed at myself this morning for missing brutal on Cedarwood Road because the stars were crimson all the way to the top... but flashing. Probably needed 5 more points. I'll try again when I get home from work... I also think I might try Brutal on vocals if I know the song.

The thing about Brutal is that for drums (and singing) anyway it should come somewhat "naturally" if you can keep a beat (or know the song lyrics and melody by heart) fairly well because you're just playing/singing the song.

Guitar and Bass on the other hand - no way! On those, sure you're mimicking a pattern that relates to the song, but for me, my mind wouldn't be able to correlate the gems with the actual sounds they're making once they've "disappeared off the screen". Too f'n hard!

Go Get 'em BACHI!! Glad you are back on the sticks and are carrying the torch - at least one of us is!
  • @bigmf was setting some nice drumming scores for us until @bachig came along and blinded us with a red-hot crimson glow
  • TubaDude49TubaDude49 Road Warrior
Do Crimson Stars show for Spotlight?
  • On the app, it shows Gold Stars but the difficulty level is indicated as "B" for Brutal mode.
In the game itself, they are shown as Crimson.
  • bigmfbigmf Tiny Hulk Smash!
My drum set has the loose battery -> flashing lights problem. It knocks my scores down considerably. Bachi almost certainly still beats my scores if I solve the issue.
