DLC Week of 5/11: Mother Loving!
It’s Mother’s Day this weekend. We’re reminding you so you do something nice for her. Go get a card now, but wait on the flowers a bit so they don’t droop before Sunday. Don’t forget to call.
“Kids”, the hit single from MGMT, joins Rock Band this week. This platinum-selling single from Oracular Spectacular proved to be an anthem for a generation and was recognized with a Grammy Award nomination in 2009. “Kids” would go on to become a multi-media fixture, having been featured in TV shows, video games, trailers, and film. The bass plays synthy octaves throughout, and harmonies are satisfying to nail. Both the guitar and drums have solos, and this song marks the 100th drum solo in Rock Band 4!
Also this week, Tracy Bonham’s “Mother Mother” crosses over to Rock Band 4, after being featured in Rock Band VR. The lead single from her first album, The Burdens of Being Upright, the song topped the Billboard Modern Rock chart in the mid ‘90s, being the last female-fronted song to do so for the next 17 years. The song is full of aggressive vocals that carry the song, and the bass in the chorus is very fun to play. The guitar opens up from acoustic verses to loud, distorted choruses, making for a dynamic experience.
Each track can be purchased individually for $1.99 each.
