  • Welp, seeing all of these Rock Band 5 set lists made me consider making my own, so her it is! 97 songs covering everything from hip-hop to death metal. I did try to balance things out and make it realistic, but feel free to criticize it or tier it, or do whatever you want with it. I am quite pleased with the outcome here, in all honesty.
  • LiveHomeVideoLiveHomeVideo Trying too hard
This setlist seems pretty good; not a fan of absolutely every song, but there's a lot of good ones on there and it seems pretty decently varied. One thing I'd say, though, is maybe organize the list in some way, perhaps in alphabetical order by either artist or song title, since it makes it easier for others to find songs they may like if they're organized in some way.

    Other than that, good job!

I do appreciate the compliments and constructive criticism. I have gone back and have better sorted the list, now by specified decade categories. Not in alphabetical order, but it's still clear and distinctive enough. I even took the liberty of adding three more songs to further round things out and all.

I'm glad you liked this ^^

Well, I make one edit to the DLC schedule. and the whole post automatically needs to be checked. All because I added a space. *Insert deep sigh here.*

I decided to remake the 30 song-long launch DLC list, just so it can still be found. Not all songs are the same though.

To commemorate the launch of Rock Band 5 (which we'll assume for the sake of simplicity comes out in early January 2018), 30 songs are available on launch, spanning a wide variety of genres from pop-rock to power metal! Some songs come from long-awaited artists, some songs were more obscure, but in this mix of tunes, there's bound to be something that interests.

    January 2018: Week 1

    Chubby Checker - The Twist
The Fifth Dimension - The Age of Aquarius

I usually have this problem whenever I want to fix something on my Wishlist, too. The "Your Post Will Appear After It's Approved" message is annoying as heck.

But still, it's a very nice Wishlist DLC with a diverse variety of songs from the past and present. I would love to see more Radiohead in the future, hopefully, especially Paranoid Android.

Yeah, that particular message happens to grind my gears. I'd like to thank you for the positive feedback as well, it is appreciated ^^

And don't worry, as a little tease, the grand cinematic entrance of new Radiohead will not be squandered.

With that being said, the second month of theoretical DLC is now live! Posted here as it was originally posted on Steam, free to be mulled over and commented on.

Coolkat, have you heard Sabrina Carpenter's new single, "Why"? Probably would be even worse in a RB setting than "Thumbs", but I'm just curious.

Good stuff here all around. Lots of variety explored, as you have before, which is always nice to see.

also I totally would buy "Wrecking Ball" don't judge me

Ah yes, more ELO is always welcome! On a related note, I just recently ordered the Xanadu soundtrack, which completes my ELO CD collection. Of course, those are all the obvious picks but I would buy any and all ELO we get in RB as it is. I'm just not sure how licensing stands on them currently.

And oh, how I longed for "It's My Life" in the RB3 days. Still kinda salty we never got that, but I can't really complain because we got a bunch of keys-centric new wave classics in the RB3 era. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if we got "Steal My Sunshine" as DLC at some point, in all of its '90s cheese glory.

BTW, "Y'all Want a Single" would be hilarious in RB what with its 89 F-bombs - censors abound. It's like "Killing in the Name" but worse. I have to wonder if HMX would stoop that low since the song would just be censored every few seconds to the point of absurdity ("y'all want a single, say...that...that..."). :p

I'd have to agree on the Talk Talk song - in fact, I'm quite disappointed a lot of keys-centric songs either didn't happen or came out in the keys-less RB4 era (i.e. Pete Shelley's solo work, Uptown Girl, Always Something There to Remind Me), but beggars can't be choosers. This list does in fact assume RB5 has keys, either in full Pro functionality and all or just as an alternative mode played on the guitar, if you're curious.

And Y'all Want a Single would basically be the wet dream of music censors everywhere if it did make its way into the game - unless censoring just stopped completely, though that's a far-fetched idea in itself (much like back-to-back Tool and Led Zeppelin songs for that matter  ).

Would buy all of these, no question. I'm glad to see another Ben Folds fan; a friend of mine introduced me to him last year and he's a seriously talented (yet vastly underrated) musician with a great sense of humor. "Rockin' the Suburbs" seems like the most obvious get from him and would be both hilarious and genuinely fun to play in RB. If you're interested, BTW, I had @LiveHomeVideo tier the song last year if you're interested.

...Ack, and after leaving this page open for a while (and refreshing it) you posted the new month! So many good, varied choices to comment on, so little time. I really hope we get another Van Halen pack down the line, it's been almost two years and it would be a crime if we didn't. Outside of that, the entire Cream pack is an obvious buy, and boring as it may be outside of vocals, I'd love to see how "I'm Not in Love" would work in RB (which I also had tiered by @TuleRune ).
  • Friggin' approved comments, always ruining my day.

Well, I saw your post before it got removed :) I've honestly never had that happen to me so I'm not sure how that works, but I keep hearing about it happening to people.
  • So we heard you liked weird and varied song packs.

I still can't believe "Shooting Stars" became a meme out of all things. And I first listened to it in 2015, before it was cool. B)

But boy there's something for everyone here. I'm a huge Gary Numan fan, and as unlikely as it is I would love to see some of his other songs make the game besides just "Cars" ("Are 'Friends Electric?", "We Are Glass", etc.). The whole Pleasure Principle album is a masterpiece, but since it has zero guitar in it there would be a lot of alt-charting to be had. Still, I think "Cars" and anything else from it would work great in a RB4 setting.

    These are all instabuys:
Gary Numan - Cars (1970's, New Wave)
    Tenacious D - Kickapoo (2000's, Rock)
The Blues Brothers - Theme from Rawhide (1980's, Country)
Asia - Heat of the Moment (1980's, Rock)
    Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars (2000's, Pop/Dance/Electronic)
Daler Mehndi - Tunak Tunak Tun (1990's, Other)
    Max Coveri - Running in the 90's (1990's, Pop/Dance/Electronic)
Robbie Rotten - We Are Number One (2010's, Novelty)
    Jamiroquai - Canned Heat (2000's, R&B/Soul/Funk)
Also, can confirm I would love to play "Running in the '90s"' crazy keyboard melody on guitar. It'd be tendinitis waiting to happen.

I wholeheartedly agree on Running in the '90's, though my heartstrings are tugged when I remember the keyboard was shot in the head and left to rot (never forgetti). Same with a lot of the electronic-focused songs in this list. It makes me wonder how hard it is to merely add keyboard charts played with the guitar as they were in RB3 to RB4.

Me lamenting the keyboard aside, look, a wild new month appeared.

I feel so bad I haven't commented on your song picks in a few days, but know I've been keeping up with them! Hurricane Irma actually took out power at our house on Sunday night, so we've been wandering to different places to get power accommodations. Tonight, I finally got a hotspot up so I'm all set for now.

Anyway, I'll have to abridge this a little, but out of these last few months, I'd definitely buy "Ordinary World", "Loser", "Everything Is Awesome", "La Grange", "Video Killed the Radio Star" (ANOTHER sorely-missed new wave track for the RB3 days), "Tommy the Cat" (one Primus song is not enough), "Blackstar", "1979", "Rock Me Amadeus", "New Year's Day", some of the Muse, Christmas and Rolling Stones packs, and the entire Oingo Boingo pack. I seriously need to listen to OK Computer sometime, as well; I only know "Karma Police" but would buy that, obviously.

Am also tempted to say I'd buy "Call On Me", if only for "typical stale meme song" purposes...RB has yet to see much nu-disco or house, if any, and I think that one would actually be pretty damn fun, even with all the synthtar happening. Oh, and here's a tier I had @TuleRune do of "Blackstar". I also had him tier "Lazarus", if you're interested.

In terms of the connection between those singles...I legit have no idea. I'd love it if you dropped some hints later on, but I got nothin' right now.

I can sympathize about the Hurricane Irma part. My power didn't get knocked out here in North Georgia, but it was very windy and there is a disconcerting number of oversized pine trees in my backyard lumbering over my abode... waiting to strike...

My best wishes to you though. And, since you asked for it, hints for the song guessing game. The songs have nothing in common across genre connections, artist connections, the decade they were released in, or anything of the sort. The answer lies under your nose. The answer is a bit of humanity.

Dang, that sounded overly philosophical and inscrutable. I feel proud of myself

Anyway, woah, new month. Rather metal-centric, I should say.
