Most Played Songs

@Dangimarocker gave me this idea with their preferred decade of music thread. When I was trying to figure it out, I decided to look at my most played list, and see what was in it, so the premise is simple: what are your most played (at most, 20) songs on your phone/Ipod/mp3 player? Only the most played song by an artist counts (for me, at least), so here goes:

1. Animal Flag - 'St. Cecilia's'
2. fuvk - 'Ghost Sheets'
3. Lifehouse - 'Hanging by a Moment'
4. Gin Blossoms - 'Hey Jealousy'
5. Superhumanoids - 'Do You Feel OK?'
6. Interpol - 'Obstacle 1'
7. Miike Snow - 'Genghis Khan'
8. CHVRCHES - 'The Mother We Share'
9. Counting Crows - 'Mr. Jones'
10. Third Eye Blind - 'Jumper'
11. Rise Against - 'Paper Wings'
12. The Cure - 'Trust'
13. Brand New - 'The Archers Bows Have Broken'
14. Chasing Jonah - 'It Wouldn't Be Right'
15. All American Rejects - 'Move Along'
16. Lykke Li - 'Gunshot'
17. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Maps'
18. Syd Matters - 'Obstacles'
19. Carrie Underwood - 'Blown Away'
20. Jimmy Eat World - 'A Praise Chorus'/Lucius - 'Turn It Around'

Damn, I never thought I'd see that song here. I loved it on Burnout 3, and that game had such a good soundtrack.

yeah that game was really great!

My brother was introduced to the band from the game and got a few of their albums, most of their stuff is great, too bad they are one of those bands that are too small to ever be in Rock Band

My actual play count numbers are completely fudged by including things my wife and son listen to a lot, and by including the-first-song-on-my-phone-in-alphabetical-order a lot (The National's "Abel", The Decemberists' "The Abduction of Margaret", Susanne Sundfor's "Accelerate", and Arcade Fire's "Abraham's Daughter" are the highest for each artist for that reason; they were each song #1 for at least half a year) because that's the one my car starts to play when my phone connects. Trying to pick away those, I think I see:

    1. Tool - Aenema*
    2. The Decemberists - Make You Better**
    3. Queen+Bowie - Under Pressure
    4. The Beatles - Across the Universe
    5. The Shins - Saint Simon
    6. The Mountain Goats - Lovecraft in Brooklyn
    7. Chvrches - Gun
    8. Arcade Fire - Afterlife
    9. Belle and Sebastian - Nobody's Empire
    10. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
    11. The New Pornograpers - War on the East Coast
    12. Wilco - Hummingbird
    13. M83 - Oblivion (barely edging out Midnight City)
    14. Muse - Hysteria
    15. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
    16. Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase
    17. The Smiths - There is a Light that Never Goes Out
    18. Paramore - Brick by Boring Brick
    19. Cynic - The Space for This
    20. The National - Exile Vilify

*Aenema might have benefitted from alphabetic placement a tad as well. I don't remember it ever being a "Song 1" but it probably got some plays as the second or third song before I bothered to specifically pick a song or put it on random. Though it's surely a top 10 most-listened song by deliberate listens.
**Make You Better got a lot of plays in the month after its single release before the rest of its album arrived. The Decemberists song that I've listened to more over the course of years rather than all piled up in a month would be "The Hazards of Love 4: The Drowned"

It's impossible to tell if some songs both my wife and I like would be in my top 20 if her listens were excluded. "Little Talks", "Chandelier", "Rolling in the Deep" wouldn't entirely surprise me if they were in my 20 but I'm assuming they wouldn't. "Under Pressure", "Across the Universe", "Ziggy Stardust", and "Such Great Heights" probably include some listens from her phone.

The absence of Radiohead on my list is preposterous. OK Computer has been a mainstay on my devices for decades now, and I could hardly imagine any of the 'big 4' songs off that (for me: Paranoid Android, Exit Music, Let Down, Lucky) falling out of my top 20 in any given year. This list is all lies.
