I hope the Alestorm songs can make the transition to Real RB4 DLC. They are good, and Shipwrecked is a house favorite.

    I'd love an Alestorm pack:
    - Shipwrecked
    - Keelhauled
    - Back Through Time

Those would be my choices. I'm sure others have their choices.
    I'll go with:
    Shipwrecked (to rep RBN)
Mexico (to rep the newest CD)
    Drink (their best song)
  • I'm not particularly surprised by this (if anything, I'm surprised RBN has been up this long). I feel like the vast majority of people who were going to get something out of RBN have already gotten it so I don't think it's nearly a big a blow as it would've been a couple years ago. It's sad to see it go, but it's not like RB3 was going to have a comeback or anything.

What I do hope, like the other posters here, is that we get more RBN songs via DLC in RB4. I think there's a lot of potential to get some good deals with former RBN artists (particularly for Rivals specials and stuff) since they clearly already wanted their work to be spread. There was a huge amount of really good music there so don't let all those bridges go to waste Harmonix!

I'm with ya. If Harmonix only has the resources for (on average) two songs a week, a new RBN community could get us back to a decent amount of DLC a week. Granted, it wouldn't exactly mean the return of big artist focused packs or full albums, it would still be (hypothetically) as big as any large singles week was back in the day.

Submission work counts as resources, don't forget. They're not free spaces just because they exist, they still need to spend time being converted, tested, submitted to consoles, etc. We'd also have to spend longer writing as there would be more songs to write about.

Oh right, I always forget there was that last stretch of the process Harmonix had to do lol

As for writing though, I don't remember Harmonix exactly putting out detailed press releases when songs got released on RBN. It was more or less just a list of "Also, here are this week's RBN songs," that would get attached to weekly DLC announcements.

That's not to say you wouldn't go above and beyond though, Owl. ;)

Boy, if you take a look at the old announces, almost makes you wish.

Though it wasn't in the announcement, they did do a quick blog each week on the songs released.

I think it's also possible that the content from the "old" RBN services could get re-released that way. It's part of why I don't think RBN songs are totally dead, but it's still definitely a stretch for Harmonix's current resources.

We can dream though, we sure can dream.
  • I have 31 RBN songs stuck on my 360. I know that's the nature of our digital world and music licensing but it's a bummer all around that these purchases will likely never make their way to RB4.

    Band of Horses
    Band of Skulls
    Tragically Hip
    Sunny Day Real Estate
    Gomez
    The Shins
    Iron & Wine
    Earl Greyhound
    Gov't Mule
    The New Pornographers
    Flogging Molly
    My Morning Jacket
    The Hold Steady
    Drive-By Truckers
    Rival Sons
    Delta Spirit
    Seawolf
    The Walkmen

What a killer library RBN added. I suppose I should just be happy it existed but truthfully I'm simply devastated to know that it's going to be gone.

Never in a million years did I ever think that Devin Townsend and Machinae Supremacy would be in RB. RBN made that happen. I'll always be glad to have those tracks.

Over the past few days I've pretty much been splurging on RBN songs, because I have money now, and there's a ton of RBN songs I really want to play. I just hope it's up long enough for me to grab all of them.

I bought 11 more RBN songs yesterday and have made a vow to myself to play some RB3 this week. And to get an additional RB3 trophy before Spring.
  • I've been buying them in the Blitz store. Is there a difference between the stores as if one is better to buy from?

Web store is probably your best bet. The last time I used RB3 or Blitz's store, they crashed every 30 seconds.

I just bought 25. I'll try to get at least 50.

You can't use Microsoft Account funds for 360 stuff on the web store (or the XB1 console) so on the 360 console itself is the only way if you don't want to add a debit card/credit card/Paypal to your Microsoft Account.

Blitz worked well for me so far I bought 36 songs and need another card to finish up.
Man we need these in RB4.

I wish we had more time to go through what's available before they get taken down, but it's understandable.

I still play RB3 to get my fix of an Unkindness, Ween, Jonathan Coulton and other RBN songs.

Not all of them made it onto the PS3, but I did buy over 400 RBN songs (i'm pretty sure it's between 400-500).
  • On the UK store, quite a few RBN songs show up as Currently Unavailable. Does this mean that they have been started to be taken down already here? For example, Stan Bush's The Touch is under this status while Til All Are One is still available for purchase.

Probably as we were just given the window "February" so it could be taken down at any point this month. Sony Europe generally removes delisted content earlier than the other platforms so this should be a final warning to everyone.

Finished up my 1- and 2-instrument collection, got the one 2x bass song I had to get eventually, and completed the Megamix.

Zing Experience - "Faster Than a Bullet"
rathergood.com - "We Like the Moon" (if I wasn't 2 songs away from a complete collection, I would've never even considered getting this)
Nightmare Lyre - "Deception (2x Bass Pedal)"
Rose of Jericho - "Buried Cold"
James William Roy - "Paper Valentines"
    Glass Hammer - "Sleep On"
Scratching The Itch - "End of This"
    You Shriek - "No Heroes"
    Voodoo Pharmacology - "Minnesota"
    Chrome Coma - "Bow Down"
Counterfeit Pennies - "Five More Minutes"
    Single White Infidel - "Inheritance"
  • Hey, We Like the Moon is amazing.
  • Groudon199Groudon199 1 hour, 39 minutes, 52 seconds
It's amazingly something, alright. I'll give the RB version points for being light years better than the original, at least.

The Touch by Stan Bush *HAS*TO* get ported over to official DLC and released current gen! That song is just too dang good to languish in the basement of XBox360 RBN land.

Are they still working on the US store though?

They still might be, I checked some of them on the web store and they were there. I remember some songs never being available in Europe even on the 360 back in the day, when RB3 was new, showing up as Currently Unavailable. I think one of the VVVVVV soundtrack songs was like that for example.
