DLC Week of 7/19: A Day To Remember and Seether!

This week we’re providing a double-feature for two great bands!

A Day to Remember released “All I Want” as the first single off their fourth studio album What Separates Me from You. The song shows off the versatility of A Day to Remember by straying from their typical metalcore sound and leaning more towards fast-paced pop punk. “All I Want” was certified Gold by the RIAA and charted on the U.S. Billboard Alternative, Hot Rock, and Mainstream Rock songs list. Gritty riffs paired with intense strumming during the tracks breakdown make for a challenging guitar playthrough, while the brash and melodic chorus will have vocalists releasing their inner teen angst.

“I’m Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?” is the third track off A Day to Remember’s third studio album Homesick. The album is widely regarded as an essential record of the pop punk scene, which showed when it peaked at #1 Top Independent Albums chart. “I’m Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?” is described by singer Jeremy McKinnon as a “song about getting even. Who doesn’t like a little vengeance every now and then?” The feeling of revenge is evident in the track’s shouted verses and infectious chorus, while fast-paced guitar and drums accompany the vocals, making for a thrilling performance. Make sure your bandmates master their instrument’s part to make things easier with all the headbanging.

“Fake It” is one of Seether’s highest charting singles. The song comes off their album Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, and peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream and Modern Rock Tracks. “Fake It” reached Platinum status and has been featured in several different video games as well as being the official theme to a professional wrestling event. Edgy chords and vocals with a heavy backbeat drive the song to build up enough excitement and hype for a stadium of people, or the guests in your living room.

Released as the second single off Seether’s Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, “Rise Above This” is the band’s second consecutive #1 song on the U.S. Modern Rock chart. Acoustic guitar compliments the vocal’s supportive message while electric guitar instills raw energy for the track. Drums can get tricky when playing through the fills, but that makes for good practice.
