DLC Week of 9/27: Coheed and Cambria and Greta Van Fleet!

Rock out this week with new DLC from Coheed and Cambria and Greta Van Fleet!

Coheed and Cambria is continuing the story of the Amory Wars with their upcoming album, Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures. It will be the band’s ninth album and takes place the furthest along the Amory Wars timeline. The band’s last six albums have hit the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, and, based on the currently released songs from Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures, we’re sure this album is going to be a hit as well. This week, expect to see the title track of the album, “Unheavenly Creatures”, in Rock Band Music Stores near you. Singing to Claudio Sanchez’s vocals has always been a challenge in Rock Band, and it’s the same in “Unheavenly Creatures”, with quite a range to be found between the chorus and verses. Drums and guitar keep the energy, with drums pounding along to vocals in the chorus. Be sure to check out this latest Amory Wars entry later this week!
Before then, it’s a perfect day to head to http://www.coheedandcambria.com/ With a new album out next week, you can use the time to pick up the deluxe edition, which nets you early tour ticket access and a bunch of art and story around this chapter of the Amory Wars.

Greta Van Fleet made a splash last year as they began topping charts with a throwback rock sound. With their debut album Anthem of the Peaceful Army soon to be released, Rock Band is proud to feature current single “When The Curtain Falls” in the Rock Band store this week. Fun fact: “When The Curtain Falls” is also the first song that Greta Van Fleet played on television. “When The Curtain Falls” jumps from the word go, with a sweet guitar riff and some intricate drumming immediately following a count-in. It’ll take some skill to match the highs of Josh Kiszka’s voice, but it feels good to hit. Unsurprisingly, you can expect to pull out a gnarly guitar solo near the end of the song, so don’t get tripped up.
Heading to http://www.gretavanfleet.com/ now can get you a head start on the rest of the year. it’s a great place for impending news about Anthem of the Peaceful Army and, in the meantime, you can stream or buy their prior releases, including “When The Curtain Falls”. Check out the tour page to see when they’ll be stopping by and buy a shirt to wear when you see them (it’s NOT a faux pas). Before you know it, their album will be out and you can loop it to your heart’s content.

For the first two weeks of release, songs can be purchased individually for $1.49. Following that two week period, songs can be purchased individually for $1.99. The Rock Band Rivals Season 8 Spotlight Pass can be purchased for $16.49.

  • Coheed and Cambria - "Unheavenly Creatures" (Part of the Rock Band Rivals Season 8 Spotlight Pass)
  • Greta Van Fleet - "When The Curtain Falls" (Part of the Rock Band Rivals Season 8 Spotlight Pass)

* Please note that this week’s DLC tracks will be available for purchase on Thursday, September 27th.

Comments

  • A lil bit better
  • Why is it called comes in threes?
  • Would have been very excited to see songs I already know and love from these bands, like Feathers, Gravemakers & Gunslingers, and Safari Song, but the new songs sound good and fun to play, so I'm still enjoying this week.

Is the next challenge gonna be bands with 3 words in their name?

Also, getting both DLC songs. Love the sound of them.
  • Will pick up the Greta Van Fleet song.
  • Runa216Runa216 Road Warrior
I have never heard of Greta Van Fleet before today....WHY HAS THE UNIVERSE KEPT THIS BAND FROM ME FOR SO LONG?!

They are to Led Zeppelin what The Darkness was to 80's hard rock. Yes to the please!

Nice, this is the closest we've gotten to Led Zeppelin DLC since Them Crooked Vultures! I actually haven't heard the new single yet but I'll definitely have to give it a listen; judging from what I've heard from them, their songs would be a blast in the game.

Oh yeah, and that Coheed and Cambria track exists.

Why is it called comes in threes?

probably because it's week 3 of the season? But yeah, I opened up the thread expecting a 3 pack.
  • Eh. Nothing this week, but happy for those who like this!

Watch as GVF's song from 2018 is classified as "Classic Rock."

    (Which it should be)

Indeed. I always chuckle a little inside when I hear GVF or The Sheepdogs or The Black Keys on 'Alternative' radio - radio stations that define their playlists as devoid of old-fogey rock then play artists that replicate exactly that.

It's *good* - but there's nothing alternative about it.

Good DLC week, not as good as last week but the spotlight pass and season DLC in general is turning out rather well so far. Hopefully the following weeks have both RBN and RBVR.

My dream come true would've been a Greta Van Fleet 3 to 4 song pack, but "When the Curtain Falls" is one of their best!

Assuming this is referring to their performance of the song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, I've watched that more times than I can count. These guys are ridiculously good live!
  • YES! Finally Greta Van Fleet is here!

Thanks so much, HMX, Thursday simply can't come soon enough! Here's hoping GVF gets at least a 3-pack in the near future if this single is well received. Also very happy with more Coheed & Cambria, my hopes of getting a Welcome Home rewind are alive.
  • Three Words In The Artist Name
    Technically accurate announcement title!
Pending reports on transfer quality I'll likely be buying both of these tracks while they are 25% off
[I've already decided that I'm not getting this Spotlight Pass]
  • Good DLC is Good
  • I respect classic rock releases (or sounds like classic rock), but still not for me.
  • HendrixxHendrixx Opening Act
So happy to see Greta Van Fleet hit Rock Band. First experience even hearing them was at a small-ish live gig as guest of the Universal Music rep. By the end of the evening we both decided it was one of the best gigs we'd seen, so I'm stoked to see the positive reaction here!
  • LiveHomeVideoLiveHomeVideo Trying too hard
Oh hey, a preview video this time! :p

In all seriousness, though, from the preview both songs seem alright, I'm considering grabbing them while they're on sale, at least.

I got to see GVF live in July, and they were great. I knew they'd come to Rock Band eventually (since we aren't getting Zeppelin any time soon). There are about three or four songs I'd have liked to see in RB before this one, but hopefully they'll come later. They've shown that they're open to licensing their songs to rhythm games, so that's a great start! Also cool that we got this track barely two months after it was released, that's some fast turnaround.

In terms of the Coheed song, I've already paid for it, so I've got it either way! Hadn't heard it prior to this announcement, but it sounds solid. I'm excited for this week's DLC.
  • GRETA! YES!!! Thanks Harmonix, not my favorite either of them but super happy just to have them in rb
  • djb5f1djb5f1 Unsigned
Yes to Greta Van Fleet, no to this Coheed song.

Hope we get more GVN and please stay away from RBN re-releases, those weeks almost always leave me disappointed.
  • Always down with more Coheed & Cambria. Not sure I'm into the Greta Van Fleet song as I am not particularly fond of Led Zeppelin to begin with (Black Sabbath and Deep Purple all the way), but it looks fun to play at least so sure
