We are approaching 3 years since RB4's release with almost every week having DLC (only 4 weeks in 2016 and 1 week in 2017 didn't) and the Rivals Expansion has been around for nearly 2 years. What do you think is coming this month?

Well if it continues like the past month, it'll be mostly if not exclusively RBN re-releases + 2018 songs at a discount... Plus, we still have that hint about getting an RBN song and a new song from the same artist, so I'd guess something like:

    Oct 4 - Band of Horses 01
    The Funeral
    No One's Gonna Love You
    Casual Party

    Oct 11 - more discounted 2018 singles
    Imagine Dragons - Natural
Panic! At the Disco - Say Amen (Saturday Night)

    Oct 18 - RBN Variety
    Attack Attack! - Stick Stickly
Flight of the Concords - Business Time
All That Remains - Forever in Your Hands

    Oct 25 - more discounted 2018 singles
twenty one pilots - My Blood
Charlie Puth - The Way I Am
Shawn Mendes - In My Blood

EDIT: swapped the Charlie Puth for the Shawn Mendes song; can't believe I almost let pass a chance for a realistic guess *and* a Halloween-y guess at the same time.
  • I heard Jumpsuit by Twenty One Pilots on radio here.. which in every bit of case means its doing really well. So i'd expect that over My Blood. (Rock/alternative stations here wait forever to play songs that have been out for weeks..)
  • Since the September prediction thread is shut now, I'd say: Not quite great, but certainly not weak.

I reckon October will keep the RBN/new cycle going, with the new weeks being 2 new songs. RBN could be any number between 2 and 4. Spotlight pass will be both songs for new and one song for RBN. Not going to go much more detailed than that just yet, but the songs as a whole will cover a lot of different genres - even more than the spotlight pass already has.
  • My predictions are going to be:

10/4 - RBN songs from RB4 launch artists
Of Mice & Men - "Those in Glass Houses"
Of Mice & Men - "Second & Sebring"
All That Remains - "Forever in Your Hands"
All That Remains - "Hold On" (spotlight pass)

    10/11 - 2018 songs
Twenty One Pilots - "Jumpsuit" (spotlight pass)
Imagine Dragons - "Natural" (spotlight pass)

10/18 - New songs from Rivals launch artists
Matchbox Twenty - "Push" (spotlight pass)
    Weezer - "Africa" (spotlight pass)

10/25 - Free Rivals songs and a paid RBN song
    2 RWBY songs
Eiffel 65 - "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" (spotlight pass)
  • Us getting Disturbed's cover of The Sound of Silence 2 years ago is what came to mind regarding the chances of Weezer's cover of Africa being DLC.

10/25 - Free Rivals songs and a paid RBN song
    2 RWBY songs
Eiffel 65 - "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" (spotlight pass)

Blue (or more likely Natural) as the weakest song in the pass? I think I can get behind this.

The last DLC of the season is on November 1st. My predictions only account for 6 of the remaining 7, my prediction for the last week won't change your comment but still.

My prediction for the last week of the season was going to be:

    11/1 - ADTR and Seether
A Day to Remember - "Have Faith in Me"
    A Day to Remember - "It's Complicated"
    Seether - "Remedy"
Seether - "Fine Again" (spotlight pass)

You're right - that does not alter my previous post in the slightest. Blue does not seem like much fun on guitar or bass, and I don't have a lot of faith in Imagine Dragons in making a good song these days.

Disturbed's cover sounds way different than the original.. and in my opinion not a good way. But Africa by Weezer is very similar to the original but still prefer the original as well.
  • 10/4: RBN 00's
    -Movies- Alien Ant Farm
    -Paralyzer- Finger Eleven
-You're Gonna Say Yeah- Hush Puppies

    10/11: RBN meets New:
    -Australia - The Shins
    -Simple Song- The Shins

    10/18: More new stuff
    -Natural - Imagine Dragons
-Four Out Of Five - Arctic Monkeys

10/25: Boo! A Rock Band Halloween:
-My Blood - Twenty One Pilots
    -Bones - The Killers
    -Midnight City - M83

Yes, the Disturbed cover of The Sound of Silence is very different compared to the original meanwhile the Weezer cover of Africa is similar but between popularity and the differences it does have like the more basic drum chart I do think it could come to RB.

Would rather have had Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion.

Totally, if a Disturbed cover rather than original had to come I would've preferred Land of Confusion. An original song like Ten Thousand Fists or The Night would've been the best option.

A near perfect month? Not in my lifetime.

I hope "You're Gonna Say Yeah" comes over from RBN, it was a really late addition if I recall but I mostly remember it from the Guitar Hero: World Tour soundtrack.

I'd also be super pumped for The Killers as a pseudo-Halloween week a la Rob Zombie

How about we just get more Rob Zombie instead?
  • I'd prefer a mixed Halloween Theme pack... something along the lines of:
Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) - Marilyn Manson
Astro Zombies - Misfits or even the My Chemical Romance cover is fine.
And a Rob Zombie or White Zombie song... not a fan of either so not sure what's left by either.

Electric Head Parts 1 and 2?
  • Soul-Crusher.
  • Didn't HMX already say Halloween week's DLC wasn't going to be Halloween themed?
  • I am gonna predict a spooky RBN week for the week of Halloween

    Jonathan Coulton - "Creepy Doll"
    Septicflesh - "Anubis"
    Powerman 5000 - "V is for Vampire"
Richard Campbell - "The Modern Prometheus"

I am sure there is spookier stuff (outside of Creepy Doll) but this is based off of what I own

How about "The Funeral" for Halloween week? One of the biggest songs on the RBN, and fitting of the holiday without being a holiday song.
  • GLaDOSGLaDOS Opening Act
Don't worry I've nailed it this month

    10/4
    "Stan" by Eminem ft. Dido
    "Tom's Diner" by Susanne Vega

    10/11
"Business Time" by Flight of the Conchords
"The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)" by Flight of the Conchords
"An Eluardian Instance" by Of Montreal
"Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse" by Of Montreal

    10/18
    "High" by Sir Sly
"Wish I Knew You" by The Revivalists

    10/25
    "The Man" by The Killers
"Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab for Cutie

No way I get any of these wrong
  • The only thing I have to say, if that with the new album coming out October 12, I will be sorely disappointed if we don't get new Disturbed in the coming weeks. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I haven't been very enthused by the dlc from the past couple months, as I'm sure many of you have.
  • Didn't HMX already say Halloween week's DLC wasn't going to be Halloween themed?

Yeah, they've stated before that the Rob Zombie dlc was the only Halloween themed releases they've done because of the "Zombie" reference. It's been kind of sad with the lack of holiday themed dlc overall in the recent years, but Halloween especially seems like a missed opportunity. If not Rob Zombie, how about some more Ghost?

It's not like new tracks from a recently released/upcoming album are without precedent either, even in recent months. Breaking Benjamin comes to mind.

With us getting a lot of newish singles at a discounted price, I could see us getting a Ghost track, probably "Dance Macabre" or "Rats", getting paired with a track from the new Disturbed album.

3 of the 4 new songs this season so far are from upcoming albums.

    Mirror Master - October 12th 2018 (Simplify)
Spring - April 6th 2018 (Pictures of Girls)
Anthem of the Peaceful Army - October 19th 2018 (When the Curtain Falls)
Vaxis - Act 1: The Unheavenly Creatures - October 5th 2018 (Unheavenly Creatures)

@MistressDeviant I'm seeing October 19th for the Disturbed album release.
