Price is supposed to be 5.49, dan confirmed on reddit the blog was an error apparently

that's what you get when you let a n00b post your DLC announcement.
The blog said $4.99 too, not just the forum announcement.

I had to buy a (cheap!) USB Bluetooth dongle for my desktop. There was all sorts of gnashing of teeth about people that wanted to be able to use their phone to do it, but it couldn't be done. Why not?

Oh yeah, the operating system requirement:

A Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 PC OR Apple Mac running OS X 10.10 or higher

When are they going to get around to restocking drum sets? Those easily go through more wear and tear than a guitar controller does.

Looks like Season 9 has a spotlight pass. No price yet(?).

    Guess we'll find out tomorrow!

There's some new packs in the ingame store containing old DLC:
    - Guitar Glory Pack (£23.99)
    - Rock Band Hits Pack (£33.59)
    - Rock Band Sampler Pack (£11.99)
    - Grab the Mic Pack (£15.99)

That's sort of cool. More for the new players, or people who don't buy much DLC, but a cool idea nonetheless. 18 songs for $30 is a reasonable discount.

It is cool they did this but I own over half of each of these packs making it a non-starter. Maybe they will do a sale on older album and artist packs (especially the larger ones) that I never got around to.

    Thanks, fixed it.
  • Ha. Between all the packs, there are only about six songs I don't have, combined. A couple of the packs I have all the songs from. So, definitely not for someone like me. But it's great for people who are newer to Rock Band, for sure.

Just thinking...how many are new at this point?

Well, I sure don't know anyone, it's gotta be basically zero, right?
    EXCEPT
Now that I think about it, I actually know 2 new-ish players. They have played at my house for years, but one first bought a game + instruments "only" about 4 years ago, and the other one first started played at home when GameStop started clearing out their Rivals bundles, sometime in 2017.
Evidence suggests that it's not a trivial number that have only started buying their own DLC in the past few years.
Starting up fresh, right now? That seems super-unlikely. But people that switched consoles, they count as "new", they are starting their DLC up from scratch. People that started playing only in the RB4 era, they count as "new", in that they are extremely eager to get their hands on the RB classics that can only be purchased as Rewinds now. Karaoke-only players? It's easy for those people to jump in at any time. They exist.
Another category: people that started playing when they were young and broke, maybe on a sibling's system. They can buy songs now, they have a job! And they need to buy those songs, because they don't own any of their own, those all belonged to their brother / sister.
  • Think about experiences with online play, how many people you've come across that only have the RB4 disc songs and if you're lucky maybe also has the free Rivals songs. These big DLC packs are aimed are them too.

They might be aimed at them, but history suggests that they won't buy them. Online randoms throughout RB history have been mostly disc-songs-only.
