wikipedia said:
James Joseph Croce, pronounced (CROW-chee) (January 10, 1943 – September 20, 1973), popularly known as Jim Croce, was an American singer-songwriter.

Croce scored a handful of hit songs in the early '70s, but died in an airplane crash just as he was beginning to capitalize on his success. He is probably best remembered for the songs "Time in a Bottle" and "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," both #1 hits in 1973. Raised in devout Catholic family, he converted to Judaism when he married Ingrid Jacobson.[1]

"Cat's In The Cradle" is a great song but Jim Croce's got a few more songs I like.

Yeah -- this battle is more like a "which one turns your stomach the least" choice for me. Croce wins but I almost voted for Chapin just because there's less of his dreck to go around.

The only song I've really cared to listen to by Chapin is "Cat's in the Cradle". I'd be curious to see how far Jim Croce would have went if he hadn't passed on.

haha...you can always post those in the worst lyrics thread that was started.

    There's always..."You Don't Mess Around With Jim"

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the Ole Lone Ranger
And You don't mess around with Jim

We won't get started on "Rapid Roy the Stock Car Boy" (haha)

You're right....maybe not the greatest lyricist of all time.
