Nice: John Mellencamp

Mick Box

Jerk:
John Densmore
Nice:
Billy Joel
Joe Satriani
This depresses me quite a bit. What bad things have you heard about Dave and Debbie? Also, I agree with the placement of John Mellencamp and Billy Gibbons.
Nice:
Trent Reznor
Fred Schneider and the rest of The B-52s
Bret Michaels
Pearl Jam (They earn major points for fighting Ticketmaster.)
The Clash (They helped their fans sneak into their shows for free.)
Dio
Jerks:
Noel Gallagher (Although he has toned his obnoxiousness down since the 90s ended...)
Lars Ulrich (This is redudant.)
with debbie and david its the way they disbanded their bands
debbie wont even talk with the rest of Blondie and snubbed them at the HoF
Rick Nielsen (hell the whole band Cheap Trick)
Ronnie Van Zant
Marvin Lee Aday (aka Meat Loaf)
Frank Zappa
Dweezil Zappa
Dee Snider
King Diamond
Jerks:
Jim Morrison (I love The Doors, but you have to admit that he was an ass)
***: Rivers Cumuo
I think that Morrison's lack of personability had more to do with the fact that he was ****ing insane than just being an ass.
Reading his biography, it's pretty clear that the man was completely loco and would have ended up in a mental institution if it wasn't for the fact that he got famous.
If you see Rivers Cumuo and say "OMG I'TS RIVERS CUMUO!" He'll just stare at you like a deer in the headlights and probably say something DBish.
Ohhh I could see him doing that, after all his music is called nerd rock, he's probably afraid of ppl.
Yea, but then he whines and gets pissed about being famous.
Ted Nugent
Alice Cooper
Bob Marley
Eric Burdon
Jerks:
Noel Redding
Everyone in RHCP
Everyone in Bon Jovi
Scott Ian of Anthrax
Jerk
Fred Durst
Agreed completely.
Anymore Hit-And-Miss ones?
Thom Yorke (Human Rights, Anti-War, Environmentalism, Fair trade, etc.)
Jerk/Possibly Hit and Miss:
Marilyn Manson (Riots, Assault, Etc.)
If I ever meet her, I will punch her in the face for what she did to Maiden at Ozzfest. Shame on her for ruining so many experiences at once.
Anyway, I would have to say that the whole of Iron Maiden should go in the "Nice/Cool" category. Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson are really my two musical heroes since they have the "complete package" along with other artists like Frank Zappa.
Also, put Gaahl in the jerk category. I don't think I really need to explain if you guys know anything about him.
You don't need much explanation for Gene Simmons.
Jim Morrison often came out to his shows drunk and would do things like pull his pants down on stage
Frank Zappa always seemed like a cool guy. I can say that after reading the Bible (aka The Real Frank Zappa Book)
Dweezil stayed afterwards at the Zappa Plays Zappa concert. He signed things and spoke to people a bit. He was cool.
Dee Snider's speech at the PMRC hearings is enough to solidify a place among the cool men in rock.
King Diamond always seemed like a nice enough person. From interviews, he's always come off to me as a pretty respectable guy in general.
dont forget his exploits against the PMRC
All contained within said Bible, haha. His speech was awesome. That gave me a hell of a lot of respect for him.
Brad Arnold (Met him)
Little Feat (Met then at a concert here, very, very nice folks)
Meanypants:
Axl
Courtney Love
G.G. Allen
Definately agree with these. Marilyn leans more towards nice or hit-and-miss than jerk, though, in my opinion. I enjoyed reading the article he wrote about the Columbine shooting. He's far more intelligent than people give him credit for.
Ah, that's true. I'd probably place them under hit-or-miss, though, since none of us are really sure about what when on behind the scenes when Blondie and the Talking Heads broke up. I do know that David Byrne is adamantly against reuniting the original Heads line-up, according to Jerry Harrison.
Nice:
Paul Gilbert (Funny, and seems like an overly nice guy to hang out with)
Hit and Miss:
Kurt Cobain (Seems like he'd be a cool guy to be around, but he has his moments)
Russell Allen (from Symphony X) he was just really in with the crowd, very upbeat and just seemed like a very nice guy
