Pro tip: Stay away from the topic of drumming as much as you possibly can, at least 65% of people there are drummers, and 85% of those people think Neil Peart is god.

All the ones sitting in my section thought that Rush can't do any wrong. I was talking about Snakes and Arrows and how it had some cool moments, but was a somewhat boring album and just happened to attract a huge musical discussion throughout the intermission. Not fun.

Rush fans are also extremely dedicated. I think I met at least 8 when I wore my shirt to the DMV while taking my license test, my instructor was also a fan.

I understand that, but what about the other 15%

10% think Mike Portnoy is god, the other 5% don't feel like sharing their opinion or are sensible.

At least YES fans are not like this
Oh ho wait just a minute, any band with a somewhat decent following can have fans like this, not only Rush.

That is fanboyism for you typical for a fanboy to think a member of their band is basically god

Yeah, but I'm talking about EVERY SINGLE PERSON in my section.

My friend on the other side of the arena had a very similar experience.

Sorry, I'm not trying to excuse that dedicated Rush fans are in great numbers. I was just trying to point out to Fizzeler that Yes has those fans too.

    I've met some vocal ones.

On the topic of Rush fans, I know many who aren't fans who like Neil Peart, and he is good to say the least. But I can see some being like that, and that definitely must suck.

I really have not seen any Rush fanboys here, though.

I can name a couple of musicians that I have a higher respect for than god :p

Then again, that goes for a lot of band ones, too :o

I'm talking about the elitist types who won't listen to anything past 1985 because it lacks soul, or it's 'mindless noise,' or something.

I know the type. People who hate modern music because it 'isn't music.'

On the flipside, there are those who wont listen to anything before 1998 or so.

those are a lot worse than classic rock fans, generally because these people know nothing, classic rock fans usually at least know classic rock
