Have you got Human? if not, download it NOW!
I couldn't find a sole torrent for Leprosy(that one died off), so I got one for their entire discography. I might download the rest of their stuff I haven't got tonight. Although, that would be the first time I've done that in a few months.

Edit:Also to get a conversation going, do you think Avenged Sevenfold ripped off Death's Spirit Crusher with Unholy Confessions?

What would be a good starting album for Death?

You've mentioned being a fan of Atheist right? so your best bet would be Symbolic or Human they're are in a more tech-death style similar to Atheist & Cynic as opposed to the straightforward death metal of Scream Bloody Gore. Every single album is worth checking out though.

I say The Sound of Perseverance, last album, but definitely among their most progressive work. If you don't dig that, try Control Denied. Control Denied is a group that Chuck was going to turn into a full time commitment before he suffered from his cancer ailments. Purely progressive metal, no death vocals.(It's on last fm for listening).

I heard they are good tech. death so I thought why not ask for a starter album

    Also,

    Opinion:
Progressive Krautrock sounds great bands like Can, Eloy, and Nektar are all awesome :D

Also, sorry to bring this up again, but I don't think anyone saw my edit. Do you guys think Avenged Sevenfold ripped Death's Spirit Crusher riff at 2:28 with their song Unholy Confessions?

The Beatles are good/influential/whatever, but they aren't the best band ever, IMO of course.

I rather not listen to that rubbish. I don't like them just like most on here don't like bands like most bands I listen too. Shonen knife being a good example.

Nope sorry you feel that way just because I dislike a band, grow up.

Agreed and not liking them is cool and all, but to call them a flat-out bad band is stupid.

Jeff Beck is one of the greatest guitarists ever. You need to hear more from him. He's kinda like Zappa and Waits, always switching genres on the fly. Check out Truth by The Jeff Beck Group and Blow by Blow, his first solo album.

I could say the same thing about Beck, except switching out the "guitarists" for "songwriters" and the Jeff Beck albums for Beck albums :p

Still, I like Jeff Beck a lot, he's a really good guitarist and I love his solo career. Can't say I'm so hot on his work with the Yardbirds though.

This...especially when it's the Beatles. I guarantee you there is at least one song by them that you'd like

You can't say Dream Theater is bad because all of the musicians are amazing at what they do. I'm fine with you not liking them, but it's totally wrong to say they are bad

And I don't know about that band you listed, but I'm not going to say they suck because I have never heard anything from them
