Definitely. I hate labeling them in my music library and switch between calling them doom metal (since it is inclusive of several of their styles) and grunge (just to trick friends into listening to them, haha).

Maybe I'll put them under the genre of 'awesome music'. Then I can put Zappa's stuff there, too.
I don't think sludge would be too far off for a lot of their early work, kind of doom metal with hardcore punk influences.

Yeah, it tends to draw too much attention away from other songs of theres ("Lazy"'s my personal favorite on the album), but it's still a great song.

And yes, it does mention Zappa, which makes me happy, haha

    lol no
6 people liking something doesn't make someone overrated
Lake doesn't place guitar all the time though :p
and yeah, Carl loves his snare, not his cymbals, and he can play on a normal-ish drum kit, he doesn't need every single drum in existance to try to pull off something
Palmer never played on an album with CWoAB, he was their touring drummer, and he was only on Atomic Rooster's Atomic Roooster album
    FYI
Beatles aren't bad, neither is DT, you just don't like them, there is a difference

no, in fact, you violate this more than most here

from your posts in the Prog thread, i'd say you don't know much about any prog
Pink Floyd does amazing things like that
i think that Euphoria was the actual name they wanted, but when they were trippin while recording they just slandered out "Ummagumma"
fixed, unless maybe the Fake Plastic Guitar
thank you for saying what i couldn't say due to lame bans
the 25% that doesn't is in here
I'm not necessarily agreeing with the ban, but it was kind of a dumb idea to tempt fate. Glad you're back though, you usually help keep idiots in check. Palmer>Peart.

So? Being able to play in odd time signatures doesn't make him better. Peart is technically better at actually playing the drums and percussion. I love Palmer, but Peart is a better drummer, even if it's by the slimmest of margins.

    Lol yeah, that's good
Peart has no feeling, and I love Rush. He has never shown this much flair in his playing.

I hate to label music in my library under genres, but it's kind of necessary sometimes.

The finale all-star jam: Train Kept a-rollin

Since when did Jimmy Page become a rhythm guitarist? lol. You can see Joe Perry give Jimmy his queue but he doesn't take off.

It actually has some of their best lyrics, Paice's drumming is awesome, Glover has a *****in' bass line, the guitar riff is infinitely catch, has a great solo from Blackmore, and great organ work from Lord. So overall it's a fantastic song, it's just overplayed and makes people think that it's their only good song. A shame, really.
