Given that the final Thursday in October is just 5 days before Halloween (October 26th), it'd be very safe to assume Ghostbusters will be coming that week as a Rewind. Whether the legendary Monster Mash finally arrives alongside it, that's anyone's guess.

The usual mix of new-to-RB songs (from either RBVR or completely brand new ones; usually those would be in the Spotlight Pass), songs from either Dance Central or Dropmix, and the standard Rewinds should be expected.

Also haven't done THIS in a while:

10/5: '90s Grunge Rewinds
Alice in Chains - Man in the Box (Rewind)
Pearl Jam- Alive (Rewind)

10/12: "Bet you were never expecting THESE, eh?" week :p
Fountains of Wayne- Stacy's Mom (Spotlight Pass)
Skrillex- Bangarang (feat. Sirah)

10/19: "Something's Cooking..." (Pre-Halloween Singles)
Screamin' Jay Hawkins- I Put a Spell On You (Spotlight Pass)
Twin Atlantic- I Am Alive (RBVR)

10/26: Spoooooky Band aka. Bustin' FCs Makes Me Feel Good (if you get that internet reference, good work XD)
Ray Parker Jr.- Ghostbusters (Rewind)
Bobby "Boris" Pickett- Monster Mash (Spotlight Pass)

  • @Tranquilbez22 So you think there'll be no break between seasons 2 and 3? Season 2 ends October 18th.
  • Can we please finally get Everlong? :#

I agree with @grumblevolcano that the last two weeks of October will be a break between Season 2 and Season 3 of the Weekly Challenges.

10/19 - Post Season 2 Break 1 (Rock Band VR Songs)

10/26 - Post Season 2 Break 2 (Songs we could've had since before the MTV Partnership break-up)
    - The Presidents of The United States of America - Peaches
    - Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music

    EDIT: Changed last week's prediction.

For context, here are the songs from RBVR and Dropmix not available in Rock Band 4 or as current DLC (not that there's any guarantee we'll get all or any of them from Dropmix; technically we don't even have that confirmation for RBVR as well, but it's a good starting point).

RBVR - would be new to Rock Band

Against the Current – Running with the Wild Things
    AudioDamn! – Lights Out
Band of Horses – Casual Party
    Carrie Underwood – Church Bells

Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
    Joan Jett – Bad Reputation
The Killers – When You Were Young
Pearl Jam - Alive (studio version)
Ramones – I Wanna Be Sedated
    Stone Temple Pilots – Plush
Survivor – Eye of the Tiger
Weezer – Say It Ain’t So

Dropmix - would be new to Rock Band

Afrojack - Take Over Control (ft. Eva Simons)
Big & Rich - Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)
    Childish Gambino - Heartbeat
CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share
    Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand
Flo Rida - I Don’t Like It, I Love It (ft. Robin Thicke, Verdine White)

    Bell Biv Devoe - Poison
    Commodores - Brick House
    Dolly Parton - Jolene
    Ginuwine - Pony
Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive*
Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch - Good Vibrations (ft. Loleatta Holloway)
    Outkast - Ms. Jackson
Panic! At the Disco - Emperor’s New Clothes
    Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

*We have a cover by Cake

    Dropmix - potential Rewinds

    Europe - The Final Countdown
The Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
    Vampire Weekend - A-Punk
  • There are some great ones on Dropmix, but I REALLY want Bust a Move in RB.
  • The Fratellis - "Chelsea Dagger" (spotlight pass)

Ugh... every time you mention this song I want it more and more.

It's almost at "MOAR" levels. :'(

Also, random thought thrown out there because I can't think of songs to predict right now: my guess is the break between Season 1 and 2 will be one week, as opposed to two like between 0 and 1, because that way Season 2 will end before Christmas (instead of having the last challenge overlapping it).

Still holding out hope for some Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Spotlight pass is still ongoing, they need at least one non-rewind or the riots start. People would be mondo pissed to find out their pack discount savings were eaten up by a track they already had.

So, swap in "Rearviewmirror" or "Yellow Ledbetter" or "Them Bones" and we're good, ya?
I'd rather there be two three-packs instead, but fine, Yellow Ledbetter and Them Bones.

@MemoDLSG There was a challenge that overlapped Christmas last year though. Also having the following 2 weeks off (last week of 2017 + first week of 2018) from challenges allows room if SIEE messes up. Last year SIEE got the NYE DLC early but there was also the clear entitlements plan for exports going into 2018, right now the situation is a gigantic mess with the only fixes over the past 5 months being a few weeks ago.

    October 26 - I Want Candy
  • Do we usually get Halloween-ish themed DLC in late October every year?
Anyone know the history on that?

Do we usually get Halloween-ish themed DLC in late October every year?
Anyone know the history on that?

2008 - Siouxsie and the Banshees 01 + random singles
    2009 - Wolfmother 01 + Rob Zombie 01 + random singles
2010 - The Doors Greatest Hits
2011 - The Darkness / Rob Zombie / White Zombie singles
    2012 - Sublime 01
2015 - Naked Eyes / Depeche Mode / INXS singles
    2016 - Maroon 5 / Matchbox 20 / The Chainsmokers / Sia singles

So I'd say... 3/7 loosely related... and not since RB4 release...

    2008, 2009, 2011.
  • If we are going to be all Halloween themed, my realistic pack would be:

Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party
Alice In Chains - Them Bones

    Possible:

    Iron Maiden - Moonchild
Metallica - Of Wolf And Man

    What Halloween really needs:

    Kamelot - Elizabeth, Part I
    Kamelot - Elizabeth, Part II
    Kamelot - Elizabeth, Part III

Rob/White Zombie is the closest, but still not true Halloween type stuff. The rest at best have been word play.

In short, I wouldn't expect more than Ghostbusters, which again is kind of a stretch. If we do get some though, it'd be great.

They really shoulda sat on Edgar Winter Group's "Frankenstein" for 10 more months.

If the gap between seasons 2 and 3 does end up being only 1 week, I'd guess Ozzfest Meets Knotfest for Halloween week instead of a 2nd wave of VR songs. Say for example:
Ozzy Osbourne - "Shot in the Dark"
Marilyn Manson (something from the 2017 album)
Children of Bodom - "If You Want Peace...Prepare For War"

They've ALL been word-play, ZOMBIE. Anyway, no Halloween this year unless you're scared of fruit.

Thanks a lot for telling us that there's no Halloween songs, killjoy! :#

Changing my predictions because of this news... (Would've been nice to have a Ghostbusters Rewind) :'(

Yeah, in addition to cherry poppin daddies zoot suit riot, the presidents of the unites states' Peaches is the other thing that came to mind.

Now Led Zeppelin's The Lemon Song - how awesome would that be!!
  • Pumpkins count as fruit but that would be Halloween themed so I guess that's deconfirmed.
  • Based on Halloween and popularity; including my own, I'd say "Voodoo" from Godsmack and a Slipknot track, maybe "AOV" or "Killpop", the most recent singles from "Chapter .5". I know we already got 2 songs that Godmack had hinted at were licensed years ago, but given the popularity of "Voodoo" and proximity to Halloween, it would be a good time to release this song. I definitely agree "Ghostbusters" is a given, and grunge is overdue. Of course, Dropmix and VR tracks are also a given. I would like to see TLC and Young MC from Dropmix, and the remaining pop and country tracks from VR seem a good possibility in the coming months. Most of all though, I really want to see the return of Halloween themed dlc. I honestly feel Slipknot could replace Rob Zombie as the tradition.
  • Maybe it's Blind Melon! Tomes of Home... or anything else off their first album. Mmm.

Play That Funky Music sounds like Spotlight Pass bait alright :p

I mean Peaches has also been a song people have been clamoring for since PotUSA got a three-pack back in November '08 (which even then, was pretty awesome and a reminder of the days when a band like that got more than one song in the game).
