Oh, one other thing...when I do solo vocals, I do it from the goals menu so I can instantly see if I get the 99% nonsense*. If I do, I will almost always restart the song.

*You probably know this, but just in case you don't: The 99% nonsense (for which I have used a somewhat less civil name in other venues) is when a tiny sliver of the "pie" is empty at the end of a phrase and the game drops you from 100% to 99% without resetting your multiplier. I have yet to encounter anyone who is aware of this issue who doesn't despise it.

(My most epic struggles were Powerslave by Iron Maiden and Scissorlips by Rishloo. I was on a self-imposed quest to get FCs on all the Iron Maiden songs, and Powerslave gave me more trouble than the other 18 put together...no joke. Getting 99% isn't TOO tough, but a perfect 100% on that song is a nightmare. I have no such justification for Scissorlips, but when I finally did nail it I was extraordinarily pleased to see that I'd grabbed the #1 spot...but thanks to BlueMaven I am now #2. That's the problem with being on top...there's nowhere to go but down.)

I hope the issue with your arm isn't too serious. I had frozen shoulder last year and had to stop playing guitar for about four months...and it happened just as I was adjusting to breakneck speed, so it was an even bigger hassle to shake off the rust when I was able to resume.

    2. I am not afraid to grind. Even if I get an FC on a song, I will not hesitate to play it again if I'm confident I can get a higher score by using the overdrive in a different way.

    3. I can exhibit an astonishing amount of stubbornness in certain situations. Normally, if I am capable of a vocals FC, I can nail it within four tries. However, sometimes a particular FC will elude me after a dozen tries or more, but if I'm confident I can do it, I just keep trying over and over, because I refuse to let the song win. Most of the time, I am successful, but I freely admit that this is not really a good use of my time.

Of course I don't mind. And thank you.

A few things about me and solo vocals:

    1. I track my FCs. (On paper! I'm at 879 on vocals, not counting all-talkies songs, because who the hell cares.) And I adhere to a strict definition of "FC." Besides getting 100%, I also insist on using ALL of the overdrive in a song. If I waste some during the song or if I have leftovers at the end, then I don't count it as an FC, and 99% of the time I just do the song again with a different overdrive path. However, I will make exceptions for songs where the optimal path doesn't use all the overdrive, and for songs where it's impossible to avoid wasting some. There aren't very many such songs, but they do exist.

Hey...I was bored and decided to pay a visit to some of my rb friends profile pages. I nosed around your gameplay scores. (hope you don't mind.) You are an extraordinary singer! I've been working on vox, since I kind of blew out my arm. I haven't been drumming in over a week. Sucks. Anyway, your gold stars and scores are very impressive. I want some. :D
