Nah this'd be a bad idea for the same reason the band games were a bad idea. The Beatles Rock Band is a beautiful game but the formula only works if it's a band literally EVERYONE in your audience likes, which is no one. You're always gonna find somebody that doesn't like it no matter what, check the comments on social media when new DLC gets announced for proof.
That being said, gotta agree with The Rolling Stones being the pick if this did happen. SO many hits. But at that point I don't see why we wouldn't just get Hot Rocks full album DLC and a pack later with the later hits.
It's fun to dream but none of that is happening, not when we're getting 2 songs a week.0
My baseless predictions for this month:
Week 1 - Modern Synthpop Week
"The Mother We Share" by CHVRCHES
"Welcome To Your Life" by Grouplove
"Young Blood" by The Naked and Famous
Week 2 - Celebrating Hip-Hop Pack 01
"Poison" by Bel Biv DeVoe
"It's Tricky" by Run-DMC
"Bust A Move" by Young MC
Week 3 - The Killers Pack 02
"Human" by The Killers
"The Man" by The Killers
"Runaways" by The Killers
Week 4 - Mixed Singles
"Love Me" by The 1975
"Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf
"Peaches" by Toadies
What will probably actually happen:
4 RBVR songs, let's say "Causual Party" "Ghost" "Float" and "Man In The Box"
1 non-RBVR Rewind, let's say "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" by Jet
1 new non-RBVR song, let's say "One Dance" by Drake.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If we get more than 8 songs I'll be ecstatic6
I literally can't tell the difference, for sure the most faithful cover in the library, I wish the same could be said about most of the others...4
If it is, it's only because a vocal minority of fans made a big enough outcry to change the game's course to include a highly expensive feature that nobody uses.
franchise is dead...
Luckily for us it's not, you're wrong.2
So I was talking to my friend, telling him about how in January apparently there is one really good 90s song and apparently some really good DLC on the 5th. I was explaining that I thought it could be an artist pack from a "really good" band that has modern singles and a big 90s song. As I began to ponder aloud to him what it could be he just goes...
"What about Beck?"
And immediately I realized how that is one of the best possible answers to the scenario I described. Beck is a huge artist with barely any RB representation, yet we have gotten a single from him within the RB4 era, so he's not unobtainable (or so it would seem).
The biggest omission from him is obviously "Loser" which was, also obvious, huge in the 90s.
So what I'm getting at is, what if January's first week looked something like this?
"Up All Night"
We are long overdue for a Beck pack, and while this may not be the material a lot of people were asking for when they clamored for him, two singles off his upcoming album would make sense since the only Beck DLC we've gotten so far was from this album as well.
Crossing my fingers, for once this isn't just USLing, I think this makes a lot of sense and is perfectly possible, but feel free to point out any holes in my logic.1
